I wish the sailors would have refused even if it would have meant death. Than we could have really fucked Iran into yesteryear.
This is similar to the "confessions" of that shiekh we've held captive for a while now.
The soldiers are being put up to say these things. Ahmadinejad is doing his best to turn this into a spectacle.
Basically, he's the Jerry Springer of world leaders....

This is disgusting reminds me of the cold war when some important priest in hungary ( not 100% on country here ) was a huge opponent against the russian occupation then the russians brain washed the poor fella and after some days he was speaking with heat how wonderful russia was.
...They are being held captive. Iranians told them to say that?
Totally ridiculous, I guess you really like death. You would have preferred the possible death of the sailors and the inevitable deaths a military strategy would no doubt incur just so as you could take out some Iranians ...unbelievable attitude.rawls2 wrote:

I agree, these confessions aren't worth the paper they're written on. They're no better than Guantanamo bay confessions in my opinion.Turquoise wrote:

Of course there weren't any armed Iranians in the room when he said that...

Would be nice if I saw you react to other peoples mention of killing people like that.......like Cam's.Braddock wrote:

A confession made under duress is not a confession. If the "confession" were made at a press conference in London it would hold more water. TBH, this confession is about as genuine as that of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

Impressive.. If they did an "unlawful act" or used coercion than no, it is not a confession in a court of law (at least our courts).Pubic wrote:

How do you get people to confess then? Give them a lolly pop?Pubic wrote:

I was speaking in terms of the law. In order for it to be allowed in our courts it must be completely of free will.usmarine2007 wrote:

Now wait a minute... You're saying that you don't want to see Mugabe dead?usmarine2007 wrote:

If there's any country worthy of invasion, Zimbabwe is it. Yes, I know I'm usually an isolationist, but invading Zimbabwe would actually be a moral thing to do, for the most part.
No, that is not what I am saying. Please read again.Turquoise wrote:

Right, but you were comparing someone else's desire to see the British captives die in order for the war with Iran to begin and Cam's declaration that Mugabe needs to die.usmarine2007 wrote:

Those are two very different things. Iran may be a fucked up country, but Zimbabwe takes things to another level. Mugabe makes Ahmadinejad look like Mr. Rogers. Hell, I'd actually say he was worse than Saddam.
We can agree that Mugabe needs to die, but invading Iran is a different matter. First, we need to get the captives back safely. Failing that, I guess invasion is imminent.
Wishing death is wishing death right?
I can't speak for Braddock, but for me, wishing death on a dictator is much more acceptable than wishing it on captives.usmarine2007 wrote:

I was just trying to make a point with him that is all.
It is attempted frequently when the defendant confesses. A recent case here is Florida saw such a tactic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessica_Lunsford . The confessions stand the majority of the time.usmarine2007 wrote:

My response in that thread just states that I believe in isolationism. I don't see where you're drawing a parallel here. Isolationism does not promote or condone the killing of people it simply prefers that people in a sovereign nation attempt to solve their problems themselves as outside interference often only leads to more problems and in many cases more deaths.usmarine2007 wrote:

EDIT: I'd like to see the international world put much more pressure on Mugabe and I would personally be happy enough if the Zimbabweans themselves managed to take Mugabe out. He's a scumbag.
