Mebe bf2 has a really good system of online play. Or mebe the map is on my com and only the players models are updated cuase whne it did lag it was when i moved to an area with less reception and only lag with the players models stuttering then recovering back to perfect movements. Just wanted to let  u know bf2 is cool ahahah

yes, you can perfectly play bf2 on a 54Mb/s wireless internet connection. I do it all the time at university
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

computer illiterates for the win.

Imagine the speed of your connection as the speed it takes to print a book, and the wireless system as the time it takes to read it: it makes absolutely jack shit difference how fast your internet is as long as it's not too much for your wireless network to handle

Well, looking at this thread, you guys need help. I am here with my fancy networking skillz.
Your notebook has a 802.11G card. You are connected to their "LAN/WLAN" at 54mbps. You may have ping/disconnect issues with wireless. Go to speedtest.net while on their network "WLAN" and test the "WAN" speed there (wide-area network). There is also a utility that can be used and it is located in the windows command line interface. It sends a echo request (ping) and then it will receive a echo reply (your ping).
The lower the whole request/reply takes time to to do it the better. (aka lower ping is better)
to ping a server out of BF2 is go to start menu then to the RUN... button
type in CMD, a command line interface will come up
type "ping" spacebar then the ip address of the server. it will tell you the REAL ping.

PS: You are trespassing!

The connection to your neighbor's router may well be 54 megabit (= 6.75 megabyte) per second , but I guess your neighbors connection is just an average broadband connection of several megabits maximum.
Maybe even lower if you said you had some stuttering and the server you played on was near you.

From what I noticed since originally going to wireless the maps load quicker.

I took this example, going threw normal vs going threw wireless on original Desert Combat.

Wireless loading time vs Normal Loading Time.

Quicker vs Slower.

As for the rest of your comments it's a good thing wireless don't discredit it, not to many are hackers in my area that is a bonus, sometimes my system connects to my neighbour but what can you do if your not home and someone logs on by error.

Here in Australia it is a offence to log on like what is mentioned in the state's I think it isn't in most states correct?

Here in Austria it's your own damn fault if you don't  password-protect your WLAN connection and you're also liable for any damage done by someone using it.
Also, all the ISPs here state that in their EULAs.

No doubt, especially back in the day when dialup was still pretty popular, when I was in my early teens tryin to sneak on late to find some porn. I'd be like "NOOOOO....shhhhhhhhhhhh! SHHHHHHHHHHHH! I NEED TEH BEWBIES SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!1111!" And no matter which parts of the PC you covered up with a bunch of blankets, it never made it any quieter either.

The funny thing is, I know at least.....90% of the people who read this are goin "OMG, yeah I remember that."

The maximum internet speed in my area (in a modern, well-developed city), is 1.5mb/s.  That really sucks, as 54 is quite a bit faster.

Something like this?

I'm currently on wireless I changed some things and it worked out pretty well.. My signal always is at it's max so that's not a problem too.
