Ctrl-Alt-Delete: Press Ctrl Alt Delete to pull up the task manager. Choose the "Processes" tab. Sort the services by user name. End all Processes under your username besides "Iexplore.exe" " Explorer.exe" and "Taskmgr.exe"

I got this off of the sticky forum called "Get every frame per second you can get!"

Ok what does this do?  Has anybody done it?  Is it harmful at all to the startup of the computer?  IM asking cause i just edited some stuff on my dads computer in the system startup and fucked it up and dont want to do it to this computer...

Restarting the computer will put everything you turn off their back, so if you don't touch the startup it won't permanently damage anything.

This turns off all extra background processes which is great, but there are others you might want running. For example, I have an MX518 and I want the setpoint application to run in the background while gaming. Look at each process and try to decide what it is. If you can't delete it, and if there are any major problems just restart your comp and you'll know not to stop that program next time.

It's only harmful if you cancel processes that are System based.  Canceling things that are run on your user account (mine says Owner), then it will shut off all programs so your processor is free to maximize performance on video games.  Those three processes are Internet Explorer, the Taskbar, and icons on your desktop.  All AV programs, etc. will be canceled, so use at your own risk.  It won't damage the computer though.

Don't accept computer advice from n00bs. A lot of the processes that you're turning off there are the things that control your sound, graphics, etc. You're best off not forking with that stuff unless you really know what you're doing.

Yes, you would have to do it every time, but anything you do will come back on restart.
