hey, just looking for a good quiet(emphisis on the quiet), modular power supply.
i'm currently running a ultra x2 connect, but it seems very loud( the fan ) when i dont have my headphones on. so im looking for one that is much more quiet.
KEEP in mind i want it to be modular also, to keep down on clutter. and a min of 550w.
thanks

Enermax, Fortron, Seasonic or PC Power & Cooling.

I've heard of Antec(SmartPower series) and Thermatake(ToughPower) PSUs made by Channel Well having high failure rates. I just found out my Antec is made by Channel Well, so I'm looking to replace it to be safe.

Im a fan of seasonic, have them in both my current machines the 120mm fans they use are truly silent but im a bit apprehensive to get an M12 as they have included a 60mm fan inside the unit to 'cool hotspots'.... would like to hear if someone has one whether it is still as silent as their original S12 range.

Enermax own all, Galaxy being their best (they do an 850w if 1000w is too much ). Just read the Galaxy's specs, they speak for themselves, and the Liberty has won more awards than I can count, well not litterally more than I can count, but there are a lot.

Great PSU for the $.  Well trusted company and I haven't had any problems with it.  I highly recommend it.

DO NOT GET AN ANTEC POWER SUPLY!!! they go *poof* after a few months (at least for me it did).

Enermax is the best, they have modular cables, dont need one, dont click it on. Also you can buy extra or replacing cables for it

It all depends who makes it. Antec don't make their own PSUs. Their lower end PSUs are rubbish and break, their high end PSUs are made by Seasonic I believe.

In my experience Seasonic make the best PSUs out there. Enermax also do some very nice ones.

Yeah, I'm pretty much sworn off Antec PSUs for good, after finding out mine is made by a crap company:

I've preemptively ordered a Corsair CMPSU-520HX as a replacement.
