My family and I emigrated to Australia from Russia, in 1991, for obvious reasons- insane inflation rates, antisemitism <infer my religion here>, crappy lifestyles and corrupt governments. We absolutely love Australia. The people are welcoming and truthful (no lying in attempt to make extra money).

Except we came here with $200, $50USD per person, so it was a rough start, poorly clothed and the whole deal. Now, my mum is an English teacher in Sydney City Ultimo TAFE, and my my dad is a Chief Engineer, designing EPERBS, GPS tracking devices, and other such satellite related stuff.

Life is so much easier in Australia.

I'm amazed by the prejudice of some of your posts.  Sorry, I did not expect that from you man.

Will you please tell me about your life in north America and how it makes you feel about American/Canadian foreign policy to be free and alive and safe here?
I want to know how Muslims feel about America.
Especially refuge Muslims.
Do you really expect the guy to thank you?

He wants the guy to lavish praise on his experience of 'free' America so he can spread it around the forums and claim we are the best.

Of course he's gonna praise Canada, he came from a friggin war zone!

Sir,
Review the parts above highlighted. These are dead nuts serious questions or statements.

I resent the charge of prejudice and state that I am not.

If I'm expected to forget about the past, be impartial and judge each individual circumstance by itself                                               should not the Germanic peoples of South America be able to look at their own geneology IMPARTIALLY,
accept  history, realize that many of them had ties to the ww2 Nazi party and move on!!!

I grant that the tone of my question may have been somewhat sarcastic, but the foundation is solid.
I stand by the claim that a large percentage of post 1930 Germanic immigrants t Southa America were Nazi sympathizers or straight up nazis.

I underfuckingstand that ALL these people were not Nazis, OK, so please put away the rope.

I'm sorry if my questions seemed whimsical to you.
There is an interview thread. Are you man enough to be interviewed?
And I most likely know more about baking bread then you. Oh and my E-pen*s is also bigger then yours.

BTW In case you didn't notice this isn't a thread about my families past. Your question was full of prejudice and really had nothing to do with the OP.

I guess you think that all:

Frenchs are surrendering frogs
Germans are all Nazis
British are all tea drinking snobs
Mexicans are all lazy
etcetera .. etcetera

Have a good day my friend

Do you have a stat or anything?  Source?  Your statements and questions are full of prejudice.
Besides, wtf has this poor guy to do with the Germans who came to South America 70 years ago?  I can speak for Argentina and most Germans here were pre Nazi times or Jewish.

Stand by this.
The two largest years of German immigration to Argentina were 1923 and 1924, approximately 10,000 in each year. This period is of particular interest because while the older groups of German speakers began to feel a sense of cultural crisis due to the assimilation policies of the Argentine state, the new arrivals gave new life to German cultural institutions, such as the aforementioned newspaper, and created new ones. During the fourth period, from 1933-1940, Argentina experienced another surge in Germanophone immigration. The majority were German Jews although other German opponents to Nazism also came. In total 45,000 German speakers came at this time and half settled in Buenos Aires. From 1933 to 1945, they comprised 28% of total immigration to Argentina, as mass migration to Argentina was slowing. Two recent German studies have been written on these arrivals’ impact on Das Argentinische Tageblatt and how the newspaper was used by anti-Nazi immigrants within the Argentine German-speaking community’s debate about fascism. The fifth and final category of German immigration to Argentina involves the period following World War II. The numbers were not as large as in the past and the concepts of acculturation and linguistic and cultural persistence are not dealt with in the same way.  The group did not congregate as tightly and participated more in mass culture. Further, because of an era of national identities and the post-World War II problems of promoting German identity

Please.
Several reasons.

Quality of living.
Quality of people.
Quality of environment.
Quality of government.
Quality of economy.

As far as I'm concerned, all 5 of these suck in America and can be improved by moving.

Hats off to you and your family for taking such a huge risk with very limited resources, it is very hard. But in the end when you made it you are even more proud of your self. I wish you the best of luck.

1) WTF does my famlies history to do with the mistreatment of the native Americans???

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ODESSA
From December 2002, the Argentine government in Buenos Aires refused calls from the Wiesenthal Center for the release of 58 files dealing with the escape of national socialists to Argentina. In July 2003, two months after the passing of House Resolution 235, two of the files were opened.

Also, Argentina's government had, in 1938 (on the verge of World War II, and with Hitler's politics regarding Jews already on the move), sanctioned an immigration law restricting access to any individual scorned or forsaken by his country's government. This was implicitly targeted for Jews and other minorities fleeing Germany at the time. This law was discovered and denounced by Argentine writer Uki Goñi. This legislation, though already in disuse for many years, was finally repealed on 8 June 2005.

sorry to do this to ya serge, you know I respect you but...

Good for you, but you are so fucking wrong, I can't believe it.  You said "The majority of Germans who immigrated to South America and Mexico did so to escape prosecution under war crimes tribunals for crimes against humanity."  BS.  BS.  BS.  BS.  BS.  BS.  BS.  Yeah, Nazis came to South America, but your Bs statement that most of them were Nazis is fucking wrong.  BS.  You are having prejudice against Germans and against South America.  You are acting like a bigot.

Btw we did accept a lot of Jews (I'm descendant of them).  But what about US?
US officials were allegedly instructed to prevaricate so that even official annual immigration quotas — such as the 27,370 from Germany and Austria — remained unfilled year after year.  By then, there was a 300,000-strong waiting list of Jews desperate to get a US visa. Holocaust historians seized on the letters as evidence of official American indifference to the plight of the Jews.

Don't lecture me on Humanity, when thanks to Argentina and its open doors, my family came from Europe escaping from war.

I'm in the process of moving to Canada. Reasons: UofM grade education for community college prices; get farther away from the economic decline of the US; to avoid fighting any wars I don't believe in; and healthcare (have you seen how corrupt the American insurance system is?). Could be permanant or temporary, and we're applying for permenant resident status, the first step towards citizenship.
