Actually, Japan can't have a military. Their SDF is a civil service, like the police, and they are subject to the same laws. Further, so far as his intent, he was correct that their laws prohibit them from attacking the US.

Not that I don't think his comments about their economy are laughable, but his understanding of their armed forces is not entirely inaccurate, as you suggested.

This is all completely irrelevant. I commented that if the US hadn't existed and that Japan was never nuked, it is very possible that a Japan armed with nuclear weapons would exist today. He replied with something totally off-topic by saying this (in a sarcastic tone no less):

Not only is his comment about the defense force incorrect, it has NOTHING to do with my post. It's like he didn't even read the post, but instead made up something entirely different in his head, and replied to that. I didn't say anything about Japan being allowed to have a military to warrant such a reply. I simply speculated that Japan would be armed with nuclear weapons today if the aforementioned scenario had occurred.

Between this and his previous economy comment, I honestly don't know where this dude's head is right now.

I don't believe I used destroyed in that way. I meant it to sound as though that was their plan; to destroy our economy because they lost when it came to war, those sneaky bastards.

It's both. The Japanese are really against nuclear weaponry. That is why we use the Kitty Hawk in that region--our only non-nuclear carrier. It's also the only reason the Kitty Hawk is still in service. That said, Japan has toyed with the idea of a nuclear weapons program since NK's recent tests.

Not a rehorical question at all, and you are not answering it. Explain me why a nuclear Japan would be more dangerous than a nuclear US. Who decides that? Why can certain Nations have Nuclear weapons and Japan can't? US is the only country that dropped the bomb so far. How does this fact make US a more reliable country than Japan? Maybe this is an obvious question for you, but for normal people it is not.
