You completely missed the point of the video. It is there to remind people of what America introduced into the world by depicting a world without those inventions, vaccines, sacrifices, etc. This technique is used to put emphasis on their significance. It isn't about "Well someone else would've come along, etc. etc."--that is not the point of the video. In this thread we discuss things such as the importance of the Polio vaccine, not your childish bickering. Do not worry, your comprehension skills will improve as you mature.BN wrote:

For instance the automotive industry. The way I worded it makes sense, to me at least.

How on earth does that make sense? The US economy is the strongest in the world. Our GDP is nearly triple that of Japan's. What would make sense is if you said that Japan has a strong economy because they accepted their defeat in World War 2 and decided it was best to adopt a capitalistic society. Without the US, Japan's current economy would possibly be a mere fraction of what it is now.NemeSiS-Factor wrote:

Exactly. Their selling all their stuff over here. No one wants a Ford anymore. They would rather have a POS Suzuki or something. I'm not siding with the Japanese here.

Funny you should mention that. Japan has chosen not to develop nuclear weapons as a result of their first-hand experience with them. A world without America would be a world with a nuclear and potentially not-so-friendly Japan.NemeSiS-Factor wrote:

There's the reason they're selling in America. If people want something, isn't it sensible to sell it to them? No real need to bag on factions for trying to do business.NemeSiS-Factor wrote:

I say that Canada should've taken over the United States while they had the damn chance.

A world without America would be a world in which Japan remained isolationist and didn't wage an imperialistic war with its' neighbours.Fancy_Pollux wrote:

... When was that? Pre-revolution era? Canada was French territory and then later transferred to British control (Seven Years' War/French and Indian War). And at that time, the thirteen colonies were already under British control. No sense in trying to take over your own land. And after that, I don't think there was a time when Canada ever had a real chance at taking over the US.privatepyle12415 wrote:

I must have made up something from history class (Or I was taught wrong), I thought Japan was not allowed to have a military or any defensive force to this day.Fancy_Pollux wrote:

Canada could have defeated us back in 1812, but back then, they were still mostly owned by the British.privatepyle12415 wrote:

Apparently you did. Go read a history book and stop posting in this thread.

He's half right, Pollux.
Right about what? Japan destroying the US economy or Japan not having any defense force?Bubbalo wrote:

Japan can't have a military in the traditional sense. They have their Self Defense Force instead.
Japan was forbidden to have a standing army after WWII. I don't think it holds effect to this day, but I haven't researched... They could have a defensive force though.

It does, that's what their JSDF is for. Having said that, the restriction is in their constitution, and they've recently looked at changing it.
But he specifically said:Bubbalo wrote:

No one said Japan was allowed to have a "military", but Nemesis, while ironically trying to be clever and witty, said that they weren't allowed to have any defensive force. Note that this is a follow-up to him saying that Japan "destroyed" the US economy. Stupidity runs rampant.NemeSiS-Factor wrote:
