I think North Ireland and Scotland are going to be independent from the UK in the future. I don't know about Wales. But what if they became independent. What would happen to the UK? England would be the UK? There would be no reason in using the United Kingdom name. Perhaps Former United Kingdom.

- If N.Ireland, Scotland and Wales Became Independent Would UK exist?
The ex-Scottish colony of England & Wales?
Britain isn't going to split up. The UK probably will. So it'll be called Great Britain rather than the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
I can't see Scottish independence happening anytime in the foreseeable future (devolution, yes - independence, no), Northern Ireland is another matter. I can't see why Scotland would want or need independence, it would only be detrimental for the Scottish and they can't claim to be badly represented in government, our current and next PMs are both Scottish.

if scotland and northern ireland want to be come poor countries, then they should leave, no matter what england would not change and would still be wealthy with or without them.
If we split up i would say yes, the UK would cease to use its name and we would all say england, scotland, wales, northern ireland instead of the UK name.

The Problem with breaking up the Union is that the British PM loses a lot of power in the EU, they would no longer hold a position on the security Council and can say good bye to the power of veto, the consequences are far reaching for them. edit: but to answer your question yes the UK would cease to exist.

Excessive snobbery, even in good humor, is one of the reasons why people are ticked off at the English.Bertster7 wrote:

How much snobbery is excessive? Where do you draw the line?unnamednewbie13 wrote:
