So, I'm playing a bit of zombiemod, enjoying the usual pump shotgun action, when all of a sudden my monitor goes blank. Completely blank. Nothing noticable happened from beforehand. Now my monitor refuses to display absolutely anything (even the static not-so-quite-black black) But it does react properly to being connected to a PC (standby and on light works as it should, turn the PC on light goes green turn it off light goes orange)

I've done the usual switching PC's and such and it IS the monitor that's broken.

What's going on?!

Do you have a CRT or LCD/TFT-display?

Although I'd say that the Graph-card is to blame. Overheat -> No longer able to display high res?

Ya, that's my guess. Fried GPU.

I are teh crappy reader, I managed to misread it as "I've done the usual (blank) and such (blank) the monitor (blank) broken?" I suck

The monitor reacts to power-on, you say? If it's a CRT, I find it hard to believe that the cathode ray tube would fry without smoking or going off in an inferno.. If it's a TFT/LCD, might the backlight have gone?

Signal cable pins? Nah.. Monitor cirquit board?

I'm just brainstorming here, I've got no idea what it is. Bumping the topic and throwing out ideas so you get it solved.

Edit: Ok, its a flat panel, scratch the CRT-talk

if you have a lcd panel its just broke, I had the same problem with one, still in warranty and they changed it, problem was a burned diode on the bord, cheaper to get a new one that to replace that

i once had my monitor not working, i just changed the kabel that goes from the PC to TFT with an old kabel and now it still works.

edit: to see if your computer and videocard still works you can hook your pc up to an old monitor.

check your receipt, if you don't have that  you don't have warranty anyways

I had the same problem at a LAN party once, Turns out my Gfx card had come a little unplugged. pushed it in again and it worked.

I am indeed frantically looking for said receipt

and Poncho the MONITOR is dead. You turn it on, no startup screen. I press any of the buttons to configure it, no menu. I turn my PC on, the screen stays dead black.

Reading comprehension, FTW

(He has done the basic diagnosis ... it is the monitor ... not the GPU)

If it is a lower cost monitor, it is probably a disposable issue.  Cheaper to replace than repair.
