Also even though they were police officers they where on his property with guns, his life was at risk. If he where to open the door and remove the Police from "his property" they police would open fire.. A cop is just a man with a gun, who has to make judgement calls about useing there gun..
But as ATG said we don't know enough of the story, if he was being compinstated for the land, if the 20 feet would bring the highway up to his back porch, or if it was 20 feet across 100 ackers of land which adds up?
