My Pop's brought over his old pc that the harddrive crapped out on. I need to know what harddrives I can put in it.

Specs:

1.6GHz P4 processor
32MB AGP 3D
40GB harddrive Ultra DMA <---well, used to be

Is it even worth saving?

You can pick up a regular drive for pretty cheap.  If you want to have just a basic computer, spend the 80 bucks and get a 200 gig drive or something.

If nothing else, use that as a file storage system, or run seti@home on it.

SO it doesn't matter the size of the drive? I saw the 200GB on newegg, and thought the pc may not handle it. Im pc retarded so I really don't know.

The only thing you need to worry about is the interface, probably IDE for that computer. As far as size I doubt he needs very much, if the 40 gb was fine just go with that again, you could probably get one for around $30-40.

Some mother boards may restrict the size of the drive.  But with that computer it doesn't sound like it should be all that much of an issue.  If you're concerned about it being a problem, just don't get too crazy and get like a 500gb drive.

Company wise I would recommend Seagate or Western Digital.
