A truck driver charged with the murder of five prostitutes whose naked bodies were recovered in eastern England over a 10-day period appeared in court for the first time Friday.

Ipswich Magistrates Court remanded Stephen Wright, 48, in custody and ordered him to return to another court for a hearing on Jan. 2.

Police charged Wright late Thursday with the five murders in the Ipswich area northeast of London. He lives in the city's red-light district and was taken into custody in Ipswich on Tuesday.

People have been desensitized. They see their government commit acts of violence (  needless police beatings and shootings ) and even mass murder, such as when the FBI, ATF and members of the U.S. Army burned and shot all those people in Waco Texas.

There is a lot of anger. The thinking man knows he will not have social security when he gets old. He may not have a national identity as the country will be majority hispanic. Katrina, corruption, incompetence.

Then you have the 50% divorce rate. etc. etc.

Government and land reforms Chavez promised have gone nowhere, and businessmen say that while he has tried hard to attract foreign investors, he has made it harder for Venezuelans to invest in their own nation.
