Got my new laptop (Asus G2) and wanna start putting my games on it. But I'm missing my manual for BF2 so no CD key.  I searched this forum, found this --> http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=40553 .  Helped me a little with the steps on how to recover your CD key if you've registered your game.  Turns out I didn't register when I bought it.  BUT.. I still have it on my desktop and it runs fine, so.. I go to register it on my desktop and when I get to the registrations screen it says my CD key is "invalid or already in use."  Then it shows me a screen where I need to enter my CD key in with key info already filled in.  It's WAY too long to be a valid key.  So I try to register SF and it says the same thing and gives me the key it tried to register.  I copy and paste them both to notepad to see if I can compare them and decypher what is actually the key.  Here they are:

Is there anyway I can convert these to my key?  I know it's prolly retarded to post the "keys" but I guess I'm that trusting, heh.  It's not hex except for the middle part which translates to "This is the description."  I know the vanilla BF2 key is numbers only.  Isn't there somewhere in my registry that I can get my key from still?  Thanks a lot for any help you can provide!!

Edit:  I found the key in the registry, but it's the exact same key that I've pasted on here.  So it's of no use like it is.  I need to find out how to decrypt it.

I've googled a little but the only thing I was able to find out was that there where more users with this problem.

Maybe you can ask EA. I don't think they will respond, but you can give it a try

I know this wont help much in decrypting your key... but thought it needed mentioning, this is not entirely true.  My BF2 key is mainly letters with a few numbers mixed in, although yours may be that way.

Nothing you can do. There is some software out there that say they can get the # you need for BF2 and other programs. Though when I tried these I could not retrieve the CD-hash for Microsoft Office 2000. Sorry I can't remember the name of the software....but good luck.
