. . . and put them into a "strategic energy fund".  That's what we can look forward to if that battleaxe gets elected.  Government should start snagging profits from industry and putting it where it feels necessary.   Hmmm, wonder if she would've liked it if the government grabbed some of her profits when she invested 10K in cattle futures and ended up with 100K.

Wouldn't this idea kinda defeat the whole purpose of capitalism?

I mean I know that the Dem's like to raise taxes against big corps and what not, but this idea goes beyond insane.

I don't care much for Hillary, but I also don't feel the least bit sorry for oil companies.  This idea doesn't sound so bad to me, considering how much companies like Halliburton have been raping us with overcharging.  Maybe it's just the government's turn to rape industry.

Whatever the case, the American Way seems to mostly consist of fucking each other over as much as possible, so why not fuck Exxon a little bit?  It's only fair, considering how much taxpayers have been getting fucked by corporations lately.

I'm starting to wonder if capitalism has a purpose beyond people screwing each other over.

In my mind, what goes beyond insane is how we think we're being represented by our government by people who are getting large sums of money from corporations.  Again, I don't mind sticking it to these companies with the way they've been sticking it to us....

But on the other hand capitalism give people a reason to innovate and work.  The idea being that if you work hard or come up with a good idea you will be rewarded.  I know that the current system is far from ideal, but looking at how some other economic systems worked out else where, I'd have to say that capitalism is probably the best so far.

I will agree with your point about the lobbies ts (which I'm assuming you mean when you're talking about the corporations) and that the whole system as far as they go needs to be reformed.  Lobbyists should still have a place in the workings of our government but no where near as high up as they currently are.

That's a very shortsighted way to do it though.  The oil companies aren't going to sit back and let the government take their money.  They will just raise prices till they get back to making the same amount of profit as before the government started taxing them more.  So in the end it's not taxing the oil companies, it's taxing everyone but the oil companies, because just about every industry, person, and even the government require oil to survive.

1. Raising the taxes on oil companies will result in the companies raising their prices to absorb the cost.
2. I see commercials about Mobil, Shell, Conoco, etc. already investing money in the next energy source.
3. I see the problem not with the oil companies...its the consumption level.
4. I also see a problem with the government not being as aggressive to fund new energy sources.  For instance, the incentives to switch to an alternative energy source car is sold at a premium by the automakers...the gas prices aren't high enough to make it less costly to buy a green vehicle, unless you put a bunch of miles on your car.  Another example is the tax breaks you get for making your home more efficient has the same impact.

As hard as it sounds, until the demand is lessened, or the prices get ridiculous...the economic feasibility of an oil alternative gets harder to justify...even if it is the right thing to do.  Of course, taxing the oil companies will increase the cost at the pump...which then will force the public to conserve (in theory).

For companies like merck who lobby so hard for cervix vaccines in Texas, sure snag thier profits since they want law to say use thier product. Exxon, with the biggest corporate profit in history from obvious gouging apparently; snag thiers to.

Better yet, maybe the "election contributions" from corporate lobbyist to politicians could be snagged.

Thiers alot of money floating around. I like seeing some sort of plan other than adding to national debt. At least its an idea.

Exactly ATG.  Since she's a candidate it's important to take note when she gives us a glimpse of what she wants to do if she's elected.  It's rare for her to take a position on what she'll actually do.  Usually she's following the playbook for elected Dems by criticizing someone else's position while failing to detail what she would do instead.

I wonder if Hillary put out to Vince Foster the day before he died.  Do you think Chelsae is his daughter?

Anyway, she doesn't have the class to be President.  Think of Margret Thatcher and then Hillary Clinton.  When I think of Thatcher I think of class, confidence, and inteligence.  When I think of Hillary Clinton I think of trailer parks, Arkansas, and barefoot hillbillies.

It will be funny to see all the shit that comes out about Hillary and her family when she runs.  She inhaled.  Wait till the secret service starts talking about her temper in the White House last time.  This will be the greatest reality t.v. ever.  I am gonna register Democrat so I can vote for her in the primary because I don't want to miss out on this one.

True...  I just think that we need to reposition the government's role by being more strict in the enforcement of antitrust laws, so as to foster competition.  We need to do everything possible to support the growth of small businesses.

We should've stopped Bush from getting elected, but that didn't happen.

Nevertheless, I think you guys are putting way too much confidence into Hillary as a candidate.  Obama's got this one, not her.

Obama doesn't have enough experience to be president.  The GOP can easily scare people away from him simply with that argument.  I know I wouldn't want a president who didn't even have a full term as a senator.  I want to get to know his voting record, see which way he usually goes.

Not to mention his Islamic background, he would loose a lot of swing votes just because of that.
