I have an Intel Pentium4 Asus p4p 8006 2.40GHz and have two sticks of 512 ( 1.0MB ) Ram in right now.
GeForce 6600
I had every thing set at near max except anti aliasing. It Ran Great.  Ran no better at min settings either.
but after 1.12 patch it sux, load time? lol go watch some tv or cook dinner.
Could it be all the Cool servers are running SP?
How do I find out how much Ram I can install. Can I get two sticks of 1.0GB and have 2.0MB ?

how do I check?

Chances are your motherboard will max out at 4GB of ram. This means that you have 4 RAM slots in which to use.

you should be able to then fit two 1 gb sticks, but check on the mobo's website to be sure.

You only have 2 RAM slots? In that case you will max out at 2 GB.

well ur computer blows my computer out of the water, so does mostly everybodys computer, im running a pentium 4 1.5GHz, ati radeon 9200 pro, and everything on low, and off. oh its such a fun game when u can't even recognize who ur shooting at

oh and 512MB of RAM, yippeeeee.

i agree, the patch has been making it slow, and connectivity loss big time!

With that mother board you can handle 4* 1 GB DDR400 so yes, you can use 2*1 GB. I know that without checking but you can always check those infos from home homepages of ASUS (www.asus.com) and type your motherboard type (P4P800) to search area.

Well it depend on what model of the P4P800 he has.  There are about a dozen different variations of most Asus motherboards.  Some will have 2 or 3 RAM slots and others will have 4 dual-channel slots.

Here is a link of all the P4P800 motherboards:

There's an obvious theme to all of this, and one confirmed by an EA (UK) tech. Since the update, those that used to run everything on high have had to make adjustments... and so on. It's not everybody, but most with the less than 6600GT cards... Those on 6800GT or above probably wouldn't have had to make much of a change if any.
2gb ram is more than enough to run this game.... I upgraded from 1gb to 2, ran bf2 on 'high' everything and it was as smooth as a smooth thing . Since the update, I've had to turn everything down to medium and some on low, no AA and resolution at its lowest point. The game runs smoothly, even night maps, and I don't have lag problems or difficulty recognising the REDS.

Don't go mad on the ram, just tinker with your graphics demand first, you might just save yourself a bit of money.

My spec .. AMD64 @2.02Ghz .. 2Gb ram (2x1gb ddr400).. Nvidia 6600GT OC.

wel maybe this helps you out,

what you have to know about ram is that u cant change the MHZ of the ram like i have a

512 DDR 333 mhz.

and i put in a 1024 DDR 233 mhz in it my motherboard is going to flip.

first of all check your Mhz of ur current ram its important for your motherboard.
but my advice is ''Dont know what you are going to change? Don't Touch it'' go to a store and order the right Ram stick(s) and when they come in bring ur pc to the store it will take a several hours to get it changed and ready for use.

You need to find out what model your board is. Go to asus' website, look up the board, get the technical documentation and look for yourself. You should also make sure what frequency your ram is running at currently. You can't have a stick of 266 and a stick of 333 mhz running together. But to be sure how much you can add to the machine you should always check your motherboard manufacturer's website for product specs. Some boards won't take a gig stick of ram, some will only take a gig in the dimm 0 slot and not dimm 1. Most likely you can have 2 gigs, but don't waste money on a stick of ram unless you know it will work.

It helps if people write their technical questions in plain English, and not AOL-speak. Mild 1337-sp34k accepted.

Corsair Memory has a useful "Configurator" that allows you to search for compatible RAM by computer type/manufacturer/model, performance tests by motherboard mfg/model, and memory speed/module (the latter of which is sometimes listed in motherboard manuals, which are not always packaged with pay & pray computers like HP, Gateway and Dell).

Anyway, check it out: http://www.corsairmemory.com/corsair/co … earch.html

If you don't want Corsairs, OCZs and Mushkins are decent. If you know most of your computer is pretty much top-of-the-line, stick 2GB in your machine. If it's so-so, like an Athlon XP, 1GB will do. For anything else, a single 512MB of RAM will suffice.

- $550 ($275 per 1GB pair)

2GB - Corsair 2GB DDR400, XMS Pro Series Dual Kit (1GB per stick)
- later upgradeable to 4GB
- 2GB, DDR 400 - PC3200, Cas 2, TWINX20483200C2PRO

1GB Corsair 1GB DDR400, XMS Dual Kit (2 x 512MB)

The next-tier-down 2x256MB pair is about $75, so you'd be better off with the 2x512MB pair if you wanted to get the most for your money.

The absolute cheapest memory of this type that I can find is a single stick of:

Corsair 256MB DDR400, Value Select
- 256MB, DDR 400 - PC3200, Cas 2.5, VS256MB400
- $19

...which will give you no decent performance on a monster like BF2.

Don't forget Windows XP (32) can only recognise about 2.5 to 3 gig of memory even if you have more in the PC.

Of course, no sane person would really put more than 2GB in a non-server setup. I haven't even seen BF2 reach the 2GB memory usage marker yet.

Make sure all the sticks are of the same brand and model number for the best performance.  Matched sets of RAM reduce problems with what is called a "race condition" where memory on one stick runs faster that its unmatched partner.  Also, remember to use heat sinks on the RAM as heat is the enemy of solid state components.

I'm very sane but then again I run BF2 at the same time I run BF2S and switch from time to time to get help, etc. on what is required on a badge or ribbon.  Memory is your friend and if you have the means to get the best then do so!!!

Actually, Windows is not the problem.  Some memory regions are used by PCI devices and chipset resources (usually about 512MB).  Usually, this is allocated just under 4GB.  If your chipset only supports 4GB of memory, then the actual memory that "overlaps" the region reserved for these resources is lost.  So if you have 4GB of memory installed, you will only see 3.5GB.  If the chipset supports memory >4GB, then the memory (or regions reserved for PCI, etc.), can be remapped above 4GB, making it available to the OS.
EDIT:  Horseman, as to your question, (as a few people have said before) check ASUS' website.  You should be able to find out how much memory your MB can handle.  I would imagine you can handle 2 1GB sticks.  The other key is getting the correct memory frequency.  It looks like all of the MB in your family use DDR400.  The best thing is to buy two identical DIMMs.  Usually you can buy a "kit" with two matched DIMMs, although this isn't a necessity.  From what I have read and heard it is definitely worth it to upgrade from 1GB to 2GB.  At the very least, load times should be reduced very much.
