Kyoto, global warming, smoke, mirrors, volcanos...all moot points.  If people are causing global warming, then it can not, will not be stopped.  Because people don't give up their rides for no one. They might give them up because they are forced to by circumstance, no money, no fuel, gun to head at the stoplight, to name a few examples,  but they won't give them up because a hippy tells them too. Not enough of them will anyways. Thats how people are. NOT just americans. Latin america's car ownership is exploding, as is all of the rest of the worlds. And let me tell you, once you have a beat up second hand car in Columbia its only 1000 times better than the dirty ass diesel belching bus you used to take and you won't go easy back on the bus. My link to proof is personnel experiance in latin america over the last 20 years, and various news and industry reports on China and India. (google it if you want an acual story about it)

Besides, burning fossil fuel at a hellbent pace for over 100 years got us here, wherever here is...  Releasing CO2 that took millions of years for the earths natural processes and lifeforms to lock up. Do you really think that anything we do is going to reverse that now? Even if everyone quit emiting ALL carbon yesterday it wouldn't mean squat. And like I said... people ain't gonna quit. Seriously, ask around, look around. A LOT of people don't give a shit. I mention global warming at work and get the blankest of blank stares. The sound of the beach can be heard as my coworkers head turns into a seashell at the mere mention of something changing the way they live or look at the world.

So go ahead and put up mirrors or not or buy a hybrid or fart in a bag so the methane don't get into the atmosphere, but whatever you do, realize that you are not going to change a thing.  The bars already closed, last call bell has already rung. They just havn't kicked us out yet.

Since I could go find the other thread where people say the US is failing, and will not be a superpower but China will be the next superpower.  I ask you, shouldn't you be finding out what China's solution is and not the US?
Not really, because China only contribute about half the amount of carbon emissions of the US. Everyone should be working together for a solution.

It's good to see Iran doing their bit and making efforts to shift to clean nuclear power.
I know I quoted this once already...but it is such an outrageous statement it deserves further comment. So do you REALLY believe Iran is developing nuclear energy to prevent Global warming? I mean we all know you are anti American but for you to say something like this confirms it.
No, I don't believe Iran are developing nuclear power facilities to prevent global warming. I was being sarcastic, to a point. I do believe that Iran are developing nuclear technology for power, rather than for weapons, at least in the short term. The reason I think they are going with nuclear power is nothing to do with global warming, but to do with global perceptions and the fact that it is only a short step from nuclear energy to nuclear weapons. For a start nuclear power facilities will upset Israel greatly and possibly cause some sort of backlash against Iran, which will be in the best interests of the hard-line movements in Iran and will cripple the, very heavily supported, reformist opposition. At the rate political reform is taking place in Iran, by the time they have produced any weapons grade fissile material (which won't have happened till the end of the decade, maybe halfway into the next), there could easily be a responsible reformist government, more representative of the people, in power in Iran.
