Everyday we read about the problems in the Middle East, the fight between Israel and Arab Nations, the massive immigration from Muslim countries to Europe, etc.  And the generalized feeling in the West towards Islam is that it's a Religion of terrorism, and that we should fear all the Muslims.  At least a lot of people think this way, and this general feeling about the Muslim community draws a parallel to the anti-Semitism that was prevelant in the Nazi Germany upto the Holocaust.  Are Muslims becoming the new Jews?  Is this kind of stereotype, particularly vilification in the media, making Muslims the new scapegoats?  What do you think?

Maybe when we see some Jews start flying planes into buildings and some Muslims start getting bussed off to "Camps".

You just are generalizing and stereotyping, not all the Muslims do that.  You call terrorist a whole community for the crimes of a few.  Thank you for saying I'm right.  Besides, read about the Zionist terrorism.

It's just not the same at all. I'm not saying all Muslims are terrorist. But the reason for discontent amongst Muslims comes from those within Islam itself. They have done specific acts to generate the feelings some have towards themselves. It may be true that some outside of Islam are taking advantage of this for their own benefit but Jews were not attacking Nazi's.

It certainly bears many of the hallmarks of the rise of anti-semitism in 1930s Germany. Generalisations and demonisation of a distinct cultural group being propagated by mass media. It's quite scary really. The average human is not very discerning and when they are constinuously subliminally made to associate muslims, people who wear headgear (which unfortunately includes Sikhs), people who sport beards or simply people who look middle eastern or mediterranean with acts of terrorism the result will not be good. Many of the viewpoints expressed on this forum here show the effects of the media blitz already. There may not be an Auschwitz Mark II but persecution of some harsh description will become the order of the day.

What will you be - a Himmler or a Schindler?

I think you'll find that the Red Cross were allowed restricted access and had to wait a looong time before gaining access to inmates. And also - their reports have not exactly been glowing.

No, Auschwitz was worse than Gitmo.  But the point here is the media is making look bad all the Muslims for the acts of a few.  And remember all the terrorism acts commited by Zionist during 20th century.  Not to mention the crimes against humanity commited by Israel istself against Palestinians and Lebaneses.

I can tell you watching and reading international news it appears there is more hate crimes committed against Jews compared to any other group. I can also tell you it's a fact here in the US. I understand what you are saying and if people do not take steps to keep their paranoia in check it could spiral into something disastrous, but it is no where near what the Jews saw mid century.

My grandfather came to Argentina because of the Holocaust, he was Jew of course.  My wife grandfather came for the same reasons.  I'm familiarized with the Jewish struggle during the WWII.  But you can't deny something at least similar is happening with Muslims.  I'm not saying they will be sent to camps, but the Western countries see all the Muslim community with fear and a sort of racist feeling is growing among these countries.

No I do not deny the existence of Islamophobia. I am just trying to say it is not the same. If you would have titled the thread "Is Islamophobia existent" I would have said yes. You decided to compare it to mass genocide. If any degradation of opinion towards any particular group is not kept in check who knows where the road may lead.

The title doesn't say Islam: A new Genocide, I'm saying Islamophobia is the new anti-Semitism.

Not all westerners think islam is a terrorist organization. Doesn't that mean you're generalizing as well?? Now we've all pretty much agreed on these forums that most ppl in the world dislike America, so allow me to suggest a new thread: Americaphobia (or  whatever you call that): The new anti semitism?

No but the level of Antisemitism was so high it led to Genocide. We are comparing the degrees of each right?

I was using extremes to illustrate a point. I would hope to think anyone who is familiar with my opinions knows that I was not being literal.

I never said all westerners.  But the media has created this feeling about Muslims, and that is a fact.  Let me say I'm not Muslim, so I'm not defending my people or else.  I just think generalizing and stereotyping is wrong.  I don't think most people in the world dislike America, au contraire.  But you can say most people in the World dislike Bush.  So, your comparison fails.  The racism against Muslims is real and denying it is not the solution to this problem.

I reckon it's headed that direction. There's less secrecy and more outrage about racial/religious discrimination these days so I can't see it ever getting as bad as anti-Semitism in Nazi Germany. But the comparison does seem valid.
