I have these Zalmans, very happy with them, but no integrated mic. Other than that, good sound & very reasonable price, under $50 http://www.upgradenation.com/Zalman_Hea … 54737.html They also carry the version with the integrated mic now, still under $50 http://www.3gplaza.com/estore/control/C … s?id=40937

I bought a Zalman and found them to be very uncomfortable with a useless clip on mic so a bought Speedlink Medusa which i can't fault.  It even has a control for adjusting front/back/center volumes and a volume control box which is useful when switching between vanilla and SF and the sound doubles during the loading screen.  Oh yeah and a proper mic.

There are very few headphones that truly have surround sound. Only SONY has a pair that uses HRTF to create credible surroung, but those are $1000. settle for a good pair of logitch surround speakers and a decent stereo headphone. Just use the speakers all the time, and the headphones when you need quiet, like at night.

Well, my headphones are usually always at 100%... if i did that too my speakers. which are 5.1, i would rattle my monitor off the desk. i only use the speakers for movies, and music mainly. the headphones are for gaming.

I can highly recommend these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-1-surround-soun … dZViewItem

I bought a pair just after Xmas and I'm delighted with them. Very comfortable, and they shut out practically all external sounds (cannot hear doorbell or phone ring with these on, even when i'm not gaming).

Combined with an X-Fi.. the sound quality is immense. Makes a big difference to BF2

I've got the Zalman's 5.1 with clip on mic.  The mic sounds pretty good but it's clip on and the cable length is not the same as the headphones so you have tangle issues.  Other than that the only gripe I have is that they are slightly tinny in sound.  I prefer full and rich bass and mid tones (default sound card settings for treb/bass) from my audio equip, the Zalman headphones sound thin to me.  It would be nice to be able to adjust the crossover.

Got these: Icemat Siberias

Very happy with them, they claim to be 5.1 I think.  The clip-on mic isn't so great but they also have a version with a boom mic, which wasn't on sale so I didn't get it.

> I don't bother with 5.1 headphones because I don't have an X-Fi yet. What I use now are Sony MDR-150's,and for 20 bucks at Wal-Mart,they can't be beat, and easily replaced. The only headphones I've used that I think sound better even for music are the MDR-V700DJ,at over 100 bucks. Until I get an X-Fi,the DJ's are pointless, but with one or another high-end card you can tell the difference in seconds. I've been told that true 5.1 or 7.1 is impossible without a special plug or a hot card. Tommy D.
