I received a mail with 5 questions about morality and ethics. Let's see what you think.

1-Would you rather:
a-Win a million bucks yourself
b-Have everyone you know win 10K each

2-Would you rather:
a-Accidentally make an animal species extinct
b-Kill your neighbors dog

3-Would you rather:
a-Never have sex in your life
b-Be homosexual

4-Would you prefer to be:
a-Rich and dumb
b-Poor and intelligent

5-Would you rather:
a-Kill your wife/girlfriend to survive
b-Kill yourself to save her

1-a - I probably know more than 100 ppl, but there are less than 100 ppl I care about enough to give them 100 grand.. so I could split the mill between them and ensure the ppl I care about get more.

2-b - with the mill I made before, I'd get him a new dog and explain the situation

3-b - you're not gay if you throw the ball ... hmm... actually.. I choose A.

4-a - if you're rich, you can pay someone to teach you to be smarter. If your poor and intellegent, you already have all it takes to make a success, but you've not done it...

5-a & b - I'd kill my wife to save myself, but kill myself to save my girlfriend

question 2 doesn't really make sense in terms of answer a. If you chose a, then it's no accident. You are chosing to make an animal extinct.

1. a. I care about significantly less than 100 people. I'd happily take the million and give my treasured friends/family a small windfall and keep some for myself.

2. a. This is a tough one because none of my neighbours have dogs. However, if I could make the particular fly that carries malaria extinct, I'd be doing the world a favour, wouldn't I?

3. b. Homosexual. I don't have a problem with homosexuality and if I were inclined that way, well I'd still be happy.

4. a. Gotta be rich and dumb. Because if you're dumb, you wouldn't give a shit about it. However, were I intelligent and poor, I'd know about it and be suffering. At least if you're rich, you can do right by other people.

5. a. I'm willing to admit it. I'm scared of dying. I'd probably toss a coin, be told I'm being stupid and I should go save myself and then do exactly what I was told and feel guilty about it later.

1. A- "Everyone I know" doesn't exactly deserve $10,000. Although you could help out a lot with 10,000; you could do a lot more with one million and still have leftovers.

2. B-I can use my leftover million to buy him a new dog, unless it was Lassie because then I need like 15 dogs.

3. A- John Paul II did it.

4. B- who wants to be Paris Hilton anyway?

5. Toughie- I'll have to sleep on it.

3 - ?: I really don't know. I mean, if I were homosexual, this would be no problem - I'd like it that way then, right?
4 - b: I am, so no point in deciding, I have to take it as a fact.
5 - a: Mankind thinks of own survival and pleasure first. So there are 2 possibilities: no pleasure but survival / no survival, thus no pleasure. Which, in the end leaves choice a the better one. But meh, I can't talk. When in utmost love, i'd probably decide differently.

1-I probably know a lot more than 100 people, so economically it would be better to let everyone have 10K. Perhaps everyone is so thankful and gives me back something.
But I think I'd choose B, invest the money to increase it and then give it to people that need it.

2-Definitely B.

3-A. I could still rely on masturbation and sex toys. And if just the coitus with a woman is prohibited, you could still have a relationship.

4-B. You can more easily get rich if you're intelligent. But simply being rich doesn't make it easier to get intelligent.

5-I'd do none of these. Someone would have to kill me, or her and then me.
How could I be sure that she is save after I have killed her? Only someone using death threats, force or torture could pull of this evil dilemma. Such a person is easily able to kill her afterwards.
But hey, I really don't know what I would do when I'm in "Room 101".
