Well... When he said songs I think he meant good songs...
Joking...

Anyways, I would suggest any song by the following bands. (I'm a rock/metal kind of guy.)

Guns N' Roses-(Not the songs everyone knows of... Those ones suck. I'm talking about the albums other than their first one.

Judas Priest- Fricking awesome

Def Leppard- Fricking awesome

Led Zeppelin- Old fricking awesome

And some Pink Floyd in there too

1001 Albums you must hear before you die

Even if it spans from the 50's to early 2000's, this list (more precisely, the book) is great when wanting to listen to something new. Here are some examples/decade, so you can start uploading to your Zune/iPod/Palm/PC/whatever:

50's: Ray Charles – Genius of…
60's: King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
70's: The Who – Who’s Next
80's: Slayer – Reign in Blood (Chose that one for sl4y3r )
90's: Pearl Jam – Ten
00's: Mars Volta – Deloused in the Comatorium

To name a few

TBH that list sucks, for one white stripes are on there twice... And where's tenacious D?
Also the scissor sisters had one good song, trust me, one...

EDIT: take that back, the list is OK.... up until 2000

The list is of a broad spectrum of music, hence it has a huge amount of music I too consider as total poo (e.g. Scissor Sisters, which I personally dislike to the point of nausea). I was amazed that e.g. Tool isn't represented at all on the list.

My personal 1001 list would be completely different, but owning the book has been helpful in finding/rediscovering bands I like. This is why I recommended it.

Tenacious D deserves no place there, and you know it.

I'm sorry, but I could not find TOOL on the list anywhere. I think it needs to be re-compiled.

You are absolutely correct. The authors genuinely f**ked up by not having ÆNIMA and/or Lateralus in the list. Idiots.
