If you constantly question something which appears to be simple and logical, you won't get very far with a simple and logical mind. When you delve into the illogical, things lose their simplicity. And a topic as complex as the theory of a single, all powerful creator, you aren't going to find a simple, short answer for the truth behind it.

I am one of the few who has sat back, and really thought about the entire concept of faith. Thats why now, for me, the illogical answer appears to be the most likley one. Therefore I have faith.

so faith is your final answer.

Basically, yes. But to look at the road to reach it is the difference, as opposed to simple blind faith.

That is the weakness of forums, we all can read into a person's post based on our own biases.  I feel you misinterpreted his post.  I understood his post to say he was raised a Christian and believes in God because the Bible says He exists.  Then he was instantly criticized for the manner in which he answered.  Good dialogue won't flourish here unless you challenge his views with your own.  Example: "Ok, I don't believe the Bible is true because . . . Why do you believe it's true?"  It takes time to be able to express one's religious views effectively, give him a chance.

Let me ask this: Let's assume for argument's sake that the all powerful God Who created the universe exists.  If He communicated truth to men who wrote it down, wouldn't it be logical to believe what's written there? 

Here is one of many reasons I believe: creation itself.  When I look at all the detail necessary for this planet to sustain life, it shouts Creator.  Everything we encounter in our existence contains detail to a level that requires a designer.  The most complex items we humans can design pale in comparison to the detail we find in nature.  We as humans did not create the world we exist upon, so logically someone more powerful than us must exist in order for our exquisite world to come be formed.  The universe did not create itself from nothing.   

I agree with BigmacK, one simple, short answer cannot possible address all the questions that could arise if we delve into the full depth of this topic.  I have done a fair amount of studying and it has, in the end, refined and strengthened my beliefs.

This reminds me of another question I've always had, but don't want to make another thread about:
Why do people say they are Christians when they drink, gamble, have premarital sex, and other un-Christianly (is that a word?) things?

Good post. It's very hard to describe why someone is religious, it's usually a huge combination of things. However, I think Stingray answere's a part of it right there. It's a difficult thread this, and I don't really think there is a proper answer.

Religion has been proved wrong many times. For example that earth is not in the center of the universe and that humans have evolved from apes. I don't believe in any religion not only because they are wrong and they only cause war and persecution but because I have never in my life felt anything from a higher being or anything else like that. People are free to think what they want as long as they keep it to themselves and not force others to believe in it as well.

Wrong. The Bible never said that the Earth was the center of the universe, the Catholic Church did. And the Theory of Evolution is just that, a theory. Not hard facts. I don't really have an opinion on that, before everyone goes nuts with 'ZOMG! U dnt beliv in teh evolutionz!!!

"Theory of Evolution is just that, a theory" its not just a theory, its like a theory of universal gravitation, ok its a theory but it had been observed all the time, everything fall ! in the univers bodys with mass make a distortion in space so bodys with less mass fall on it. so  theory of universal gravitation is more than theory! its the same for the theory of evolution, it had been observed all the time, in different ways by different peoples, sorry but there is so much proofs that theory of evolution is much more than some obscure theory.

the bible can be severely miss-interpretedid (spelt wrongly i know)

for example my belief is that perhaps the 7 days of creation may each and been thousands of days. also to believe that we evolved from an ape simply because we are somewhat like them is ridiculous.
