Any system will bottleneck a G80.

Hey

some site did a test on the 8800 with amd cpus and the slower ones are bottlenecking the card.

http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/gef … u_scaling/

even with the 5000+ athlons it's bottlenecking the performance somewhat.

Yes it will. Even an FX62 will bottleneck the G80... You need at least a quad core core 2 to make it no bottleneck =/

Yes.
Really?

I needed a 550w PSU for my two 7900 GS's. Although, SLI needs alot of power.

Surely it couldn't.

No. You only need a 450 watt to power 2 7900gs... A quality 450 watt G80 is a single card system.

Any 8800 system I have seen has had a 550W-1000W PSU, 650 seems to be the most common, and if later on you wish for SLI then 700+ is needed, since eventually G80's will strugle (not for a while right enough).

My PSU has 500W and is SLI certified. I've got a total power of more than 280W available just on the Cables to connect with my graphics card(s). That should be sufficient, even though 2 8800GTX would consume about 291 (which are values given out by nVidia, the measured ones are lower).

And 7900GS'es need 49W - as one PCIe slot should be able to provide 75W (and indeed, I built a rig for a friend of mine with a 7900 in it) there should be no need to connect it to your PSU at all.

You can pick a 720w PSU up for a pretty decent price, thats what I run my 8800 on mate.

you will have a huge bottleneck with an  4000. You need a core 2 duo running at 3+ Ghz to eliminate the bottleneck at lower resolutions. But still, you will have a kick ass system that can nearly run every game maxed out with 16af and 16aa.
