Passwording a Folder.

Hello,

Me, and Mongoose, are trying to find a way to password a folder in my Documents, on my Computer and I've Google'd, I've AltaVista'd and I've even searched this forum and I can't seem to find anything which doesn't cost money. So I was thinking that these programs obviously use some kind of code or whatever to password folders and I was thinking maybe somebody in this forum knew this code and would be so kind as to tell me their secrets .

I won't go into what Mongoose'll use this for, but be assured, my uses will be more mature!

Oh, and, if somebody manages to help, a reward of Karma awaits.

I don't think you could make a folder password protected with a different password than the one at the account you are logged on (without these fancy programs), but you could make the folder hidden....

i used to put my dirty stuff deep within C:\WINDOWS (also in a hidden folder)

Wow, thanks for the responses guys. I never had a doubt in BF2s.

Anywho, I've downloaded the LockBox and this is good. I like it. But I'll have a look at what else you guys are linking me to.

Right, if you dont want to install and bother with encrypting programmes etc this is what to do. RIGHT CLICK the folder you want and then click on PROPERTIES then down at the bottom there will be two options READ ONLY and HIDDEN. If you select hidden then go to CONTROL PANEL and then click FOLDER OPTIONS. Then click the VIEW tab and in the scroll box there will be a part saying HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDER and make sure the DO NOT SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS.This should then hide the folder, when you want to then use it change the setting in control panel back. I hope this helps

Make a zip folder, then you put your file in the zip, you make right clik anywhere in the zip folder (one the background) and you press Add a Password, you enter your password and then each time someone want to open the fille it will ask for the pass
