My recommendation was buried in another thread but I got some good feedback and wanted to share it with everyone. I have a feeling that the Battlefield crowd would love this show.
Anyone interested to learn what you should do to survive in all sorts of wilderness environments should check out Man Vs Wild every Friday at 9pm EST. My new favorite show.
In each episode, this former British special forces guy (who also hiked up Everest and across the South Pole) parachutes into the middle of the Sierra Nevada, the French Alps, the Amazonian rain forest, etc with nothing but a knife, a flint, a water flask, and the clothes on his back, and a couple cameramen follows him for days (without assisting in any way) until he finds civilization.
Highlights from his venture on the African savanna: he couldn't find water so had to squeeze the "juice" from an elephant dropping directly into his mouth. later, he found a zebra that had been torn apart by lions, and proceeded to cut himself a massive hunk of flesh and ate it raw. Zebra sashimi.
Here's a tip: when you make a headdress out of your t-shirt to survive in the desert, be sure to piss on it.
Link to more video clips here. And for anyone who doesn't subscribe to Discovery, I bet you can find a way to watch it if you do a bit of hunting.
