Can you really edit your rank doing this?

Note: This procedure involves editing a game file; create a backup copy of the file before proceeding. Use a text editor to edit the "profile.con" file in the "\battlefield 2142\profiles\0001" directory. It should be similar to this:

LocalProfile.setName "user"
LocalProfile.setGamespyNick "user"
LocalProfile.setEAOnlineMasterAccount "user"
LocalProfile.setEAOnlineSubAccount "user"
LocalProfile.setTotalPlayedTime 25467.3
LocalProfile.setNumTimesLoggedIn 9805
LocalProfile.setRank 0
LocalProfile.setCareerPoints 0
LocalProfile.setLastBaseUpdate 0

Change the "localprofile.setrank 0" and "LocalProfile.setCareerpoints 0" values to:

LocalProfile.setRank 43
LocalProfile.setCareerpoints 54100

I can't see that being right, your stats aren't held locally but in the EA stats server.

thats used for non-online, aka if you play offline (not connected to ea account) it still displays your rank in bfhq

Yes you can, but only for single player. You'll be able to outrank bots.

i tried to change those values so i could get unlocks in the demo.... but it didnt work

Totaly true the stats get stored on the Master Server so editing an text file won't change anything.

The demo didn't have all the files for unlocks (it's a demo after all) so you can't get them in it. The code shown will work in the SP part of normal BF2 and similar modding is used in the 'all unlocks' mod for SP BF2 so you can try out the unlocks before having to choose them.

Since, as far as I know, you have to go through BFHQ to get your unlocks I don't think the rank up code here will actually help you get the unlocks to test in SP, you need the mod.

If, on the other hand, you just want to be able to auto outrank the bots to get commander this should be all you need.
