However, NI minister Lord Rooker said the new charges were needed "to bring water and sewerage standards up to the level of the rest of the UK".

He said £629m had been spent in the past three years on improvements.

Lord Rooker added that while Northern Ireland received the highest share of spending in the UK, it paid the lowest share of local taxes.
They give little in taxes but get the most money spent on them, half of them are ungrateful bastards anyway. We should anex them.

Sorry but I believe NI voted to stay part of the UK, please explain how that is oppression... o and it's not your country is it. Its part of the UK whether you like it or not. Deal with it. Seriously you and poe boarder on the fanatic, that only leads to bad things if you know what I mean, and if you don't im talking about the IRA blowing up innocent people. I know about things that the soldiers have done to people in NI, you do realise that half of the military in NI is from NI. So your only killing and hurting yourselves. Don't go trying to blaim the rest of the UK for a decission that was yours.

LOL. I'm glad I'm in the Republic. I wonder would Vilham be grateful if the Germans had won the Battle of Britain. Methinks not. Now do you understand why Irish people in Northern Ireland want rid of you?

PS You've already have annexed the North - wtf are you on about?

Vilham is THE no.1 most sensitive person on this forum. He also seems to have little or no concept of the history of Ireland or parts thereof.

This isn't even comparable to the Germans or any other country invading England in the last century, Ireland was conquered hundreds of years ago. NI then VOTED DEMOCRATICALLY to stay as part of the UK, please just accept it.

Yeah sorry didn't mean anexation meant the opposite of anexation. What ever the technical word for that is.

Yeah, in 1973. Opinion in Northern Ireland has changed towards union with Eire in the years since 1973. Not to mention that that referendum was a complete farce with only 58.1% turnout due to a boycott from the Republican side.

It's not a case of you getting the Irish out, it's a case of the Irish getting you out.

Because they can't make their mind up if they want to be part of Ireland or the UK.

That's right - I forgot. Time dilutes injustice!! Silly me. You can't even bring yourself to contemplate how you would feel if Germany annexed Britain. Well if you can't even take the time out to empathise then I'm afraid you're more extremist than me. Going on Vilham's logic he'd be happy to see his great great great grandchildren speaking German and honouring the fuehrer if the Germans successfully invaded England.

Northern Ireland is an ARTIFICIAL state, that was created out of nothing in the 1920s to preserve an apartheid majority of Brits there. The tactic failed. Demographics suggest that within a couple of generations the Irish will be in the majority there and your land stealth tactic will have failed. And I'll be there to wave my flags and toot my horn. Tiocfaidh ár lá!!!

O our "land stealth tactic", by that I guess you mean "drain on our resources". Obviously we would do that to ourselves on purpose just for the sake of it.

If time doesn't dilute injustice I want an appology, from the French because they control Normandy now for invading England in 1066 and killing our King.

Hey man your Queen is free to give us back sovereignty over the remainder of our land if she wants.

Please note the nice edit line about your great great great grandchildren in my post above.

The people of Northern Ireland voted to be self determined and to remain part of the UK until the majority wanted otherwise - thing is, because of Unionist intransigence we don't have a Parliament & are not self determined (what we voted for)  that's why wankers are levying taxes on us from London, a position that the Unionist population are happy with. Don't even stat me on the State sponsored slaughter of innocent Catholics in NI by the British state - as for " you do realise that half of the military in NI is from NI" yeah a Loyalist police force/army for a Loyalist people with blood on their hands, we are well aware of the situation.

Typically ignorant English twat talk. Most Brits have not a clue what their own government has been up to over here for the last 35/40 years. How do I know? Because I'm English and have been living in the North of Ireland these last 15 years.

"They give little in taxes but get the most money spent on them" Moron! Have you ANY idea how much money the British Government has made off the conflict in Northern Ireland? One year they spent 2 billion on 'security' over here, and MADE 5 billion selling the surveillance equipment and 'security services' developed for use here. Northern Ireland has been a testbed for the British forces for years. The most 'under surveillance' part of western Europe

"half of them are ungrateful bastards anyway" No, half of them resent the occupation by British Forces, and most folk are wiser by far than any average English to politics and especially politicians. NI usually has the highest turnout for elections in the UK. And what the fuck have we to be grateful for? Highest electricity in the UK and no access to other suppliers, highest most rip off bank charges in UK, highest gas, highest petrol outside London, and lowest average wages.

"We should anex them." Er ..... buy a dictionary, we pretty much are.

I do believe that's what he's suggesting.  From what he said:

Vilham wrote:

..it appears Vilham wants rid of Northern Ireland, out of the UK, and the only method of doing this would be to return Northern Ireland to Eire, i.e. to unite Ireland.

I'd like to use this opportunity to give thanks to all of the Americans on this forum that do take a hell of a lot of Bush-bashing, foreign policy-bashing and bashing in general in relatively good spirit, unlike Vilham who blows his top and calls for ethnic cleansing based on one or two threads. If the Americans acted like him D&ST would have been shut down a LONG time ago.

Wrong. There has never been a yes/no referendum in Northern Ireland or Ireland as a whole on becoming a united Ireland.

Ok you might as well add me to your list of fanatics. I to want the Island of Ireland to be united. And by the sounds of things so do your fellow country men on this board. We are costing the UK money. We are in a quagmire here, with wages much lower than the rest of the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Again wrong, no you don't know what your talking about. When someone from Northern Ireland joins the British Army it is Army protocol to NOT send them to Northern Ireland. They are sent all over the world, every country the British have a base except N.Ireland. I know because I have friends who joined the army. The main reason they joined was to get out of Northern Ireland and the fact they knew they defiantly wouldn't be stationed here.

Sorry but that isn't entirely true. The Army may make such claims but I have been talking to a guy at uni who was in NI (he is English) and he served with other soldiers from NI in NI.
