Imagine how these guys will be interrogated over there.  I bet they would be begging to go to Gitmo.

anyway, on topic, don't you know that the US is the only country in the world to violate people rights? I call bullshit on these articles, it's just more right wing misdirection to keep you distracted from the poor treatment of jose padilla.

These people will probably be buried up to their neck in sand and have a bag put over their head. Then all the towns people will come out and gather in a big circle around them. Then, someone will pass out golf ball sized stones to everyone and they will proceed to throw the stones at the heads of the accused until they are cracked open like an egg and they bleed to death while screaming and begging for their life. And everyone will celebrate and have a big party in the streets just like Mardi Gras! Oh how I love third world justice.

The US isn't harsh compared to Egypt, but is that really the standard that should be applied? "Don't complain, at least we're better than Egypt!"

No, but when people cry and moan about the torturous US, they should step back and put things in perspective.

The US isn't harsh. We just put ourselves on a moral high ground. So ANY torture from our side is cited as unacceptable.

yes but what do you consider torture? that bullshit in abu ghraib definitely wasn't, humiliating? perhaps, but if you don't want to get strip searched don't start a fucking riot in the prison yard jackwipes, lindy englund should have been promoted, but instead the pentagon fed her to the media in some lame PR appeasement move naively thinking they could get some cooperation with the press out of it. Irreparable bodily harm is definitely torture, pulling out fingernails and such, but when you start getting into the very subjective areas of "mental anguish/emotional trauma" you've got to keep in mind it's a goddamned prison, not the breakers hotel in miami.

Ummm ok.  So, people say sleep deprivation and loud music is torture?  I am saying they need perspective on what real torture is.  If that is your point, ok then.

In Gitmo they get custom meals, the books they want, and better medical treatment then most our soldiers... so yea.

The truth of the matter is that this operation is under a microscope. The Red Cross has an on-site presence and watches everything that goes on very closely.

Yeah, like the perspective that TORTURE IS INHUMANE AND WE SHOULDNT BE DOING IT IN A COUNTRY THAT ALLEGES TO BE GREAT AND FREE.

It isn't "Our torture isn't as bad as theirs!" Its THE FACT THAT WE TORTURE AT ALL. I dont give two fucks who is less humane than the US, I give two fucks that the US isnt humane.

Please tell me what techniques you consider torture?

And by the way, that is NOT what I am saying.  Please read where I responded to that.

Torturous ones. Ones that induce inhumane suffering, or unjust suffering, or just about any kind of unwarranted suffering.

Maybe you're the one that needs perspective on what torture is. First hand perspective. Do you deny chinese water torture as a form of torture? Because you'd seem pretty dumb if you told me chinese water torture isn't torture because it doesn't cause "irreprable bodily harm".

Anything that cause permanent dismemberment is torture.  What I went thru at SERE school is everything the US is accused of as being torture (except truth serum).  I, and nobody else that was with me, have any dismemberment.

What is irreparable bodily harm?  My back hurts because I used to carry a shit load of weight many miles on my back when I was in the grunts.  Is that torture?

You volunteered for it, and you could refuse the work. And you didn't experience the durations or extremes that these people could very well be under.

And, you neglected to address my example. Chinese water torture causes no physical harm, it is a psychological torture, and yet it is a time tested torture. This proves your definition is not broad enough.
