If you had to chose any current Gov or Gov elect to run for president, which one do you think would make the best president. I am from Ct and Gov Rell would not be my choice, I don't really know where other states governors stand so I would like to hear some stances and policies implemented into other states. Please debate.

Interesting thread...  Hmmm...

For the Democrats, I'd say.... Thomas Vilsack (Iowa).  He's leaving office next year, but he's been a good leader for Iowa.

For the Republicans, I'd say.... Mike Huckabee (Arkansas).  He's also leaving office next year, but he's a good public speaker and one of the more moderate Republicans.

Arnold, no doubt. And I'm a democrat, but I like Arnold. He would make a good president

He'd make a good president because he's been a great film star, or because he's good at his job?  Cuz frankly, he's barely making a dent in his capacity as governor of California only winning his terms because there was no competition..and because he's a famous movie star.

No... well he is until January, at least

And Jeb would be worse than his bro, imo....

I wonder how many people who criticize current actor-politicians wouldn't mind if one they agreed with held a high office.

president= head of executive branch
good businessmen=good executive
look at some of arnie's business ventures before you start labelling him as "just a famous movie star". considering what gray davis left for him, i'd say he's no less than a genius.

Well, if I considered the president of the US as someone requiring the ability to suceed at business, then yes, I'd consider Arnold.  But not when there's so many more qualified intelligent people that could do much better...even if arnold could run for president.

But honestly, how many Californians went to the polls this month to reelct him because of his mastery of business ventures?  lol  It's because they either hate Angelides or because they just watched Conan the Barbarian (I did last night! lol).

I don't know any governor I'd like for president.  But I'd like my state rep to run, he really sticks to his values and keeps his promises.

California's problems were mostly the fault of Enron.  Davis was basically just the fall guy.  He wasn't an especially good governor, but he's not as bad as people make him out to be.  Arnold, on the other hand, was friends with Ken Lay.

I wouldn't vote for Arnold, but he probably would do a better job than Bush has (not saying much).

Arnold could not be president because he was not born in the US.  McCain is not a governor so he should not count.
