NO - Never.

The first referendum made us loosing so many companies that moved to Ontario, we have already take our toll of those referendums.  We have not been able to manage a big project since then. (i.e. electric dams, Montréal surronding bridges and other society advancement)  Our economy would so much suffer that we would never recuperate from it.  We are basically left with hydro-electricity and aluminum lets keep those ones intact.  NO.

Working in he packaging industry, we have customer both in Ontario and in U.S., mostly U.S. & some bits in other provinces.  We have deals with american mills and customers and it is not the only company i've worked for that has a simmilar set-up.  That is only one economy sector and from there I see so many job lost that I can count them in thousands if the yes wins.  We would loose more employers, purchase power and many more aspect of our lives would be affected.  The Québec financial debt is so high that it makes no sense to do it.  NO

I can't argue with the fact that most of us fear the lost of our language, wow there is what, about 400,000,000 anglophones around us and we are 7,000,000.  57 for 1.  Any human born has grown in there mother matrix (sorry missing words here) had heard her as a phoetus, as a kid you master the culture that you grow in, you get marked by that so deeply that it's already a distinction!  btw CPHighwind Changing ''ZOOM ZOOM'' to ''VROOM VROOM'' is like translating ''cock-a-dooldo'' (Not sure of this one) for ''cocorico'', it's something like an idiomatic expression it's rarely translatable.  I love french, I love to speak it, to read it & to write it even if it's one of the hardest language to master on paper.  So yes I agree that this language is for among us if I try to speak french to an anglophone he won't understand me.  I'm working every single day speaking almost half of it in english and I don't beleive I am loosing my identity!  It's a question of knowing who you realy are and being open minded! NO (it's not a good reason).  But I'm normal when I'm french.

For the bunch of clowns that we have as politicains they are not worth more than a bad clwon show.  You see them act and you have your answers.  To be honest the only one who would have the capabilites of doing it was Mr. René Lévesques, in those days he had even the support of artists that were singing songs, writting and playing.  He had created the momentum for that referendum.  It did not pass because our elders were too affraid of it.  We are still debating this today while we should have moved on and let that behind us decades ago.  Our leaders which were the remnants of the heart of the ''parti'' Québecois were sure that they could make it happen.  They had not the charisma to lead, we lost the second, another mistake from them beleiving in it!  Today making another referendum and losing it again would mean that this ''parti'' is not meant to be, period.  They cannot afford to lose it again!  Again NO.

But today we would like ot have the fair part of the budget. (There were proofs of retaining some money from us, I will have to researh when this happen though.)  We would like to have a fair play and to not have those scandals with the federal.  And people still ask me why I have problems with suits!  Politicians, lawyers, financials administrators, they are all a bunch of crooks!!! @#Ç*R%¨$#  YES.

LT.Victim, regarding that Hong Kong was retunred to China, a lot of chineese people went to the west cost and since I've not heard of it much, how does it goes?  The only thing I've heard was about policemen that both of them had to speak different version of chineese (cantonese and madarin), is that true?  Are they integrating well?

Turquoise you are absolutely right about our women and they know it!

Tired I'm going to meet Morphée...

I'd say so..

My school has about 1500 people, of that, I would say at least 600 of them are Asian.

I haven't heard anything about cops having to learn two different languages, but it wouldn't be a bad idea.
But I think it would be better if we hired more Asian cops, that can speak English as well as Cantonese and/or Mandarin. If not, you can usually find someone on the street to translate for you if they really don't understand what you are saying.

If you ask anyone here, I'm pretty sure they will say that its not up for us to learn Chinese, its up to them to Learn English. If they come here to live, they better at least know some basic English. But most of them time its just up to there kid, who goes to a public school and is taught English to translate for them.

Some of them are really crazy though, and I've got tons of stories, but I wont share them.

And yes, the common myths about them are true; they cant drive, and get really good grades.

Your English is very well for being from Quebec. I'll know who to turn to if I need help in French Class

I forgot to add my opinion to that. lolfailed.

Quebec is like that retarded redhead stepson you have.

If he leaves the house, he will turn up 3 or 4 days later without pants, and with a $20 bill pinned to his shirt.

i.e.: wouldnt last.

lol, dont get me started on Edmonton. A true calgarian cannot speak kindly of edmonton. we're still pissed that they got to b the capital of alberta, even though we are clearly better   truthfully they are worse off than we are. calgary is a nice place but its not all what the media says it is.

So you wouldn't like to see Chinese stop signs.  Somehow we expect the same thing, Québec is our homeland since Jacques Cartier discovered it.  Come to Montréal and ask for directions 95% of the time you'll be answered in English.  Further out from Montréal it will be hard to get answers in the Shakespear language.

No, I don't believe that we would be financially OK.  The U.S. would buy us with their back pocket change after a while!  When our Québec leaders are discussing this matter it has already an effect to our economy, it's slows down.  Really for us it's time to move away from the separatist speech.

lol

When a young adult leaves his parents home, he has to manage his life and to prosper by himself, we would have to do the same but it won't happen.

Hell yes!  If Quebec separated from the rest of Canada, then the rest of Canada would come out ahead financially.  If I were Canadian, I would ENCOURAGE the independence movement.  Half of the Quebecois apparently aren't aware that Quebec depends on the rest of Canada for financial support.
You probably know that the quebec population count as 1/4 of the Canadian population. This means 6 millions people paying tax. I think that we, Quebecois, pay for the poor province. So if Quebec leave, Canada will have a lot funding problems.

Now, for people who don't know it, here is a breif resume of Canadian History;

From the moment the French loose the war against England, they give the Nouvelle France to England. English people, for more than a hundred years, try to assimilate us into english language but we manage to preserve our right for french speaking.

If you guys saw the Maurice Richard movie, you can see a glimpse at the way english people treated french people = like shit, insignificant and useless people.

By the time we get to have rights to the point we are today, the same as english people have.

Today's government try to separate Quebec only for their carrer (being the one who have succeed where René Levesque fail) And it's become that; political stupidity.

I've once been on the separatist side, but now that i figured out the lines above, i'm more convinced that History is behind and i don't have anything against LIVING english people.

Long life to a healty Canada

Canada has about 32.7 million people, and Quebec has 7.5 million.  So yes, Quebec makes up about a little less than a quarter of the population.  However, as has been mentioned earlier, Alberta has plenty of money, and Ontario is doing considerably better than Quebec when it comes to economy.  When you consider the amount of funds coming from Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, Canada could easily survive without Quebec.  When you consider Quebec's relatively high unemployment of 7.7%, then yes, it becomes apparent that Quebec needs the support of the rest of Canada -- not the other way around.

Nevertheless, I agree that the history of Canada shows how the French Canadians have been mistreated.  Still, times have changed, and Quebec must continue to assimilate enough to communicate with the rest of Canada in a practical way.

Of course, being American, my interest in this is limited, but it's interesting to listen to all the viewpoints in your country.

French Canada has great food, great skiing (Mont Tremblant ftw), great chicks. My Canadian citizenship lets me experience all this without much of a hassle. Please, if you don't want me and a few million other Canadian citizens to go bonkers, have Quebec stay Canadian.

I don't care, I just don't want to see and especially to hear any other Québécoise singer.

They are invading France and therefore Belgium and hearing them speaking with their weird accent is horrible.

No more Céline Dion, Natasha Saint Pierre and the ginger one (Iforgot her name), they might be beautiful women but when they speak they destroy all of it. And come get back Anthony Kavanagh, this guy is not funny at all.
