Say what you will about the US but I can tell you first hand that the Secret Service does not screw around. When the president comes to my hometown the shut down pretty much half the city just to get him from point "a" to point "b".

Also, given the low popularity of Mr. Bush and the fact that many think this world would be better off without him I'd say they are doing a good job.

The thread was more light hearted in nature - not a serious stab at US governmental security.

Surely they can just now detonate the pound of C4 that they had hidden it in, to take out the thieves?

When ever President Bill Clinton visited Derry, some spide thief managed to get his presidential ring off his finger as he was going along a line of people shaking hands, the spide was pounced on by the secret service and given a fair oul whailin' up an ally as they got it back, so alls well that ends well..

I have seen Airforce one land many times at Macdill AFB. I know in some other cities they use suburban's or other vehicles. My question is this. Where do all the cars come from since they obviously are not recycled from city to city?

I seen a documentary about the logistics involved from country to country. Not sure about the inner workings of the states though. Basically a Galaxy Transport plane arrives before Airforce one, carrying all the armored limos, armored SUV ambulance and support vehicles and security personnel.

they watch the package, not the table they were at ten minutes ago, not the coat room, they do make sweeps of the building and each room they enter beforehand, and random sweeps of the building while they're there but the most efficient thing is to stay with the package.

@ kmarion, if you look in most major city phonebooks, you'll find a listing for a local sec service branch, each one with a few cars, some of them with limos on ready. though alot of times the vehicles are convoyed from nearby or stuffed in a c-17 and flown ahead. that vid made my head hurt, but usually the sec service likes to keep a pretty low profile. there could be one next to you tomorrow and you'd never know, as the tint is so dark it makes looking for lights nearly impossible. they don't just do guard service, but they handle credit card fraud, pyramid schemes, and counterfeiting as well, justifying stocking "fleets" in each major city. you won't see an address in the listing, but it's there.

Two of the three Honolulu Police Department motorcycle officers involved in a crash while escorting President George W. Bush to Hickam Air Force Base are in serious condition at The Queen's Medical Center.
The motorcycles reportedly slipped indvidually on a rain-slicked roadway at about 7:10 a.m near the base entry area.
