From what I gather about UK politics, which I do take some interest in, Brown hasn't got a hope in hell of retaining the role of prime minister if his party elects him as Blair's replacement. The English public are not ready for a Scottish prime minister.

Sorry, my attempts at sarcasm failed. ATM, Cameron is looking like he will, in the future, be occupying Number 10.
During the first month of Cameron's leadership, the Conservatives' standing in opinion polls rose, with several pollsters putting the Conservative party ahead of the ruling Labour party by margins of 1 to 9 points. In early Spring 2006 the Conservative and Labour parties drew even, but after the May 2006 local elections various polls once again generally show Conservative leads.

Yes, he does. Until the Conservatives come up with detailed policy on the big issues, and stop pandering to the minority groups with token policy statements, no-one is going to vote for them. As for being Scottish? I think most of us can live with that grateful in the fact he isn't Irish ;p

I dont think Jimmy gets the fact that Tony Blair is stepping down mid-term. Somebody has got to fill that void and its not up to us, its up to the Labour party.

I disagree. I think Brown would make a good PM and the positive effect he has had on the British economy over the past years will be a very big selling point.

I think he already occupies No. 10 and Blair lives in No. 11. Unusual, but something to do with space for Blairs family because No. 11 has more living space in it.

In elections in heavily populated countries sometimes nationalism does play a part in leader selection and other issues ("Keep the pound!", etc., etc.). It's just a theory of mine.

True. I think economics play a bigger role though.
