Yeah, all news services have some bias. It was actually the first link I found with google with the information on, and it's not opinion, it's reporting factual troop numbers, by country.

(edit: and if I was playing the "my news service is better than yours" game, it would have been a Channel4 News link...)

I don't think Iraq does or did have anything to do with effectively combatting terror. It has zero impact on terror levels in the west. Madrid and London are testament to that (some would say Iraq brought those on, Iraq certainly did nothing to prevent them). I have different ideas about how it should be dealt with. Metaphorically speaking the US is just cutting branches and twiglets from the 'terrorism' tree (whilst adding fertilizer around the base!). I would prefer to deal with it by the trunk and roots. Create a homeland fortress, address the excuses terrorists use to recruit people (if we are indeed at fault, such as our unconditional support for Israel) and cutting off their funds and fighting them with counter-intelligence, infiltration and targetted repsonses (as opposed to levelling entire countries thus creating more terrorists and throwing away any trust and credibility we probably never had anyway!).

This is where we part company Cam, I do not feel negotiating with terrorists AFTER the fact is sound, they are criminals and you do not appease criminals. By the way, after you find out what they want to stop terrorizing the world, what would you do then FORGIVE them amd shake hands, or punish them for the thousands of people they killed. My guess is forgive them.
