If you had the chance to disprove an entire religion with irrefutable and undeniable evidence, in whatever way... would you do it?

Please be aware I am not asking which religion, but any major religion. Even some philosophies which rely on something not yet proven, such as the concept of reincarnation, karma and Nirvana of Buddhism, while it is not a religion.

I would because people would need to know the truth, even if i believed in that religion...

If I had the chance to disprove a science with irrefutable and undeniable evidence, I would. Only because possession of such information would invalidate said science, and its continued existence would be detrimental to research.

i have to say yes, of course i have my own religion and would never disprove it as i don't think you can, but there are a few out there i know you can disprove, and one or two that i could probably take a chunk out of.

Of course, who wouldn't want to know the truth?

No.  Many believers in religion stake their whole lives on the belief that their religion is right.  Who knows what such a sudden change could do.

Most people are going to say yes... that is a given, but I would not. People need to feel that there is some sort of "higher being", if you will, out there. Religion gives a base for morals and laws within every community, even atheist ones.

agreed, it would mess a lot of people up.  And many religions give a good start to kids.  (in terms of morals.)

Lets clear this up a little....

Religion is very real....

I think you meant disprove God or other Spritual Beings...

Maybe you should ask it this way....

Prove there is a God...

Good Luck with that one...

PS: Listen kid, in the infinity of the universe, our little solar system is like a grain of sand...

MANKIND WILL NEVER KNOW THE MEANING TO LIFE....and thats ok.

Since everything in the known universe is matter and has physical properties....

then where exactly would Heaven and Hell be located?????

And UMMMM......

If there are other forms of intelligent life in the universe, when they die do they go to the same place????

Just wondering......duh.

1. Different dimension obviously.
2. This implies heaven and/or hell do exist, which you sought to question in #1.

you are supposed to say if you would disprove A or ALL religion, and say why or why not.  This is not a Religion bashing thread.  You can of couse change your posts into a more conversation friendly form however

Like I said Religion is very real.....

I dont need to prove it...

God/buddah/alla..ect..  MIGHT be real, but the truth is nobody knows....

there's no MAGICAL BEINGS, coz where the heck are they...

SCREW THEM AND THEIR LAME RULES......WHAT A STUPID IDEA....

Why is it so hard to believe that there is no meaning to the universe...

it just is... now go outside and have fun.

What you might want to keep in mind (believe me, I am a man of science, there is not religious atom in my body) is that just about everything you've been taught about science, physics, math, etc. is believed to be true because it has not yet been proven false.  If you want to slam religion because there is no proof of it, then you might as well slam science for the same reason.  Sure, there is evidence that current scientific theory's are true, but no proof.

I think that if something helps people deal with their life, and motivates them to be a better person, then by all means have your religion.  When religion starts dictating who to oppress and kill, then it becomes a dangerous tool.  This very vocal/active minority is not enough to convince me that religion is not helping a lot of people to do good in this world.

edit
I guess the short answer is no, I wouldn't.

Ironic that the two cats with communism in their names, would choose to blindfold the masses from the truth, had this hypothetical been a reality.

Didn't they already do this with scientology?

Although you have morons like this who try to interpret beliefs as psychological nonsense. The burden of proof is still on those who say it is "bollocks"

Oh my science!

Of course I'd do it. I try my hardest as it is. Religion is bollocks, but if people want to believe in it, let 'em.

You can't disprove a science. Science is a collection of facts. Introducing new facts will never be anything but helpful to science. The only thing you could disprove would be a theory, which is called a theory because it's their best guess based on evidence. Besides, any reasonable or credible scientist would welcome your evidence regardless of what it proved or disproved. Facts, ftw!
