I think you put way too much emphasis on this perception of morale.  Besides, are you saying a Democrat can't be supportive of our military or of our efforts?  That seems rather naive.

I can assure you that logistical planning has a far greater effect on war and nation building than any morale or press coverage.
10 bucks says you have never served in the military, and as such really have no way of speaking intelligently on morale or camaraderie among troops.

I also think you don't put ENOUGH emphasis on the perception of morale.
You know what assuming does, don't you?   I'll let you fill in the blank.

And how do suppoe were going to stop the flow of weapons into the country? Not a country on earth nor the UN (who could help on borders) would do squat to help out no matter who is in charge of what now. No matter the move we make, Not one country that not already there is going to lift a frigging finger. They will sit back and watch One of if not the Biggest terrorist state of Iranaq form. The day we move out, that place will be swarmed by 3 sides, and whos to stop them? noone. You cant leave a big enough police force there with Iran and Syria ready to pounce the minute we pack up the first tank.

No, I haven't served in the military.  Does that mean that the research I've done on the military is completely nullified?  I think not.

I don't understand.  You're now giving me the impression that you think there is no way to fix Iraq.  Surely, you're not suggesting we withdraw or "stay the course" of letting our patrolling forces continue to serve as sitting ducks....

Appreciate the honesty, however, yes, that means your research on something you haven't experienced is WORTHLESS, compared to someone's real life experiences.

Are you sure you want to go down that road?  That's like me defending affirmative action by saying white people's opinions against it have no worth because they're not a minority.

Yeah, afraid so..........I will travel down any road with a person who has traveled it before, over, going down it with someone armed only with a map.

Idiots can now pull us out of Iraq and show the world we're weak and without credibility.  Funny thing is, the only thing that will accomplish is give killing free reign in Iraq.  The country will spiral into all out civil war and soon be overrun by another mid-east country, i.e., Iran.
We're weak already because we look like fools over there.  We're already at a loss of credibility because we're a laughing stalk of the world thanks to certain liars who swore to the world that Saddam had all kinds of stockpiles of weapons ("here's the weapons labs, trailers, and stockpiles").  Killing having free reign in Iraq?  Do you really think our piddly force of 130k are doing ANYTHING to quell that violence?  I can guarantee you that alot of that killing will cease as soon as the "odd element" pulls out (us forces).  Then it'll just be a 2 way fight.  But we all know that Syria and Iran will hasten the end of that fighting and they will demonstrate to the world's worst nation builders (USA) how it's done.

Seriously, come post some real stuff up here man! lol
That's why I say its not debate and serious talk but slummy opinions and heresay.

If it were me personally, I would move in more forces, clean bagdad up with extreme force and then hand it over to a (by then) More capable Governing body and armed force. I do NOT agree with cut and run, But i would pull back a bit and Get a hell of alot more feet on the ground and get it done once and for all.

We HAD that force back in 92 when i was there, A force the likes you have never seen(for that day and age) We were Miles outside of the city. (Admittedly i was already wounded and had surgery by then) We were told our job is done. Time to go home. Our guys watch them Limp there sorry asses down the road. Our best chance was then, back when we had the Military we once HAD. But i wont rehash that again. Anyways i feel like crap. Im out. Cya

The US should have thought of that when it relentlessly antagonized its allies. Instead, all that was espoused by this administration was happy talk about how the US would be in and out of Iraq in 6 mos.

What the Washington Compost, everyone has heard of it, no one likes it, unless they live in the belt.  Gimme a break, have you even read some of their editorials, put it side by side to an Al Jazeera story, looks the same, minus the language.

Saying the Washington Compost is credible is like saying Fox News is infallible.  So get over it.

Editorials and news operate as different divisions of newspapers. They have different staff and editors.

Which is why the Wall Street Journal has solid reporting but totally off-the-wall editorials. They're not bound by the same rules.

Anywhoo, you can read the Iraq Survey Group's report if you like. Same information or are the facts "biased"?

So much for the "I have a dream" if you think that because someone is black they automatically can't be the president your a bit racist....

If he has the goods to run for president than he should, and if he makes it he should not be looked upon any differently to a white guy.

I've been asking that question of the Republican Executive for 6 years.  I've been asking that question of the Republican Legislative for 4 years.  The Democrats have yet to actually assume Legislative power and already you assume failure?

You should be happy.  Now if something terrible happens, Bush and the GOP can blame currently officed Democrats.

Someone give these poor, dejected Neo-Cons a hug.   But not like a gay kind of hug.  You know what, let's stick with hand shakes(and hot, sticky IM chat).

Not US, GWB.  He doesn't own the country.  His huge mistakes don't condemn America.  Gladly people could see this last Tuesday and punished him for his failures.
Ah I see, you don't want the US to fail in this war, but you and people like you, ( basically apologist, terrorist appeasers) will undermind every effort to succeed there. got it.
Where in hell did I agree with terrorists anyway?  Yeah, I support Palestine, but that doesn't mean I support terrorists, so keep your labels away from me.  This war is wrong, but shit happens, so now GWB must fix the mess he did.
