Ok I just bought 2142.  I can play the singleplay part of the game just fine but I can't play multiplay.  When I try joining a server, everything loads, then a select my kit and as soon as I spawn my computer just reboots.  Any ideas?  I tried turning down the sound hardware acceleration through directx, and that didn't help.  I saw in another post to disable VOIP and EAX  where do you disable these at, I am not a big time windows user. 
Also my system does meet recommended specs.

may sound simple, but try turning the graphics to minimum, then if it works turn them up a bit.

i used gforce, i know there used to a problem with the ATI cards, try getting a update for you GFX card, may help, thats if i am not talking shit lol,

I got it working, uninstalled the demo and it worked =P.   I hate stupid little things like that.
