Well I have been deployed to Iraq before and I can tell you, There is deffinatly a lot of good that has been accomplished since the first time I was there. While we built villages and schools back then as well, the new ones are actually standing and in use.  Before we would build it and it would get blown up.  Same with medical clinics and what not.  There is a lot that changed for the worse, but over all the country has changed tremendously for the better.

But what do I know I've only been here twice where as most of you haven't.

Well, there you go. you can post pretty much anything from TV or politicians to make things look good or bad, But if a soldier tells you how things are going, that's pretty much undebatable.  The debates are so one sided. Not many will say things are still bad but improving and have been improving form day one.

EDIT: I am honestly not point fingers BTW.

LOL. Japan and Germany almost totally peacefully went about reconstructıng theır respectıve countrıes post-WWII from what was essentıally square one. I don't see ANY evıdece of that happenıng ın Iraq. Japan and Germany were happy to take aıd from the US to help them reconstruct. The Mehdı army and other very popular IRAQI organısatıons want nothıng to do wıth the US. All across the board, even ın Washıngton, they are concedıng that the coalıtıon presence there ıs makıng thıngs worse. I thınk what we wıll have ın Iraq ıs a faıled state or faıled states. They've managed to do to the US/UK what Afghanıstan dıd to the USSR.

The Japan-Germany/Iraq-Afghanıstan analogy faıls...
Um...  that's not what I read.  Germany and Japan still had pockets of resistance that fought the Allied forces on a daily basis after the war.  Eventually, these resistances were quelled by the Allies, but reconstruction is never an easy thing.

Nonetheless, I think the problem with the Germany and Japan analogies is that Iraq is plagued by internal schism.  Two major ethnic groups (Sunnis and Shiites) spend more time killing each other than our soldiers.  Most of the death and destruction after the war has been Iraqi-on-Iraqi violence.  To me, this is even worse than them killing our soldiers, because it implies that peace is hopeless in this region.  The only way this is going to work out in our favor is if we split the country into 3 parts by ethnicity.  Otherwise, this will ultimately be a total failure.

On the flipside, at least this internal violence has spared more of our soldiers than would otherwise happen.  If the Sunnis and Shiites were united against us, we'd be losing a lot more soldiers, so in a twisted sort of way, this situation isn't quite as bad as it could be for us.  However, it's about as bad as possible for the Iraqis themselves....

I can also vouch for this as well. I have been deployed 4 times to Iraq/Afghanistan and I have even participated in building homes and schools as an additional duty. Depending on where you're at in Iraq its really not that bad. I have been to Baghdad, Kirkuk and Ali Air Base and they are all very different. Baghdad is bad. Kirkuk was ok, we got to go off base to shop at the local merchants.

We found plenty of WMD's in Iraq. My father who is a now retired Brig. General in the Army told me while he was there in 2004 that his unit found shit tons of nerve gas. He couldnt tell me what happened to it or what we did with it. Top Secret stuff. Dunno about Osama. He's probably living it up in NYC driving a cab.

This was never about Osama and according to Fox News we found WMD's but it wasn't a big deal for some strange reason.

Okay everyone, we know that the US found WMDs.  Arabeaters told us.  Mark it down people.  They have them, they just need to keep it secret, in case people find out that there were WMDs and the attack was justified, becuase then they'd win the next election.  Wait a minute...............

Except that post-Gulf War Saddam did very little in the way of genocide.  Certainly he's not as bad as Kim Jong Il, or the situation as bad as Rwanda or Sudan.  Where is the help of those people?
