No, we have licensing for hunting here too, but PERMIT is different. When he says permit it means to get permission from the governing body to do something that would otherwise be illegal. To me this means that the government supersedes any sort of game licensing and deems if you're fit enough to hunt/own guns. IE there is no sovereign right.krazed wrote:
i don't have to worry about that here either
unless of course it's done by the police trying to shoot an unarmed fleeing suspect
and hunting permits are good sonder, to maintain game levels properly
it is illegal to kill animals without a permit/licenseSonderKommando wrote:

it's called poaching
You're not getting it man. I understand that, we have the same things here in Colorado and throughout the US. The point is this permit he speaks of is probably ridiculously hard to get, and is not as easily obtainable as a hunting license i can fucking go buy at walmart.krazed wrote:

oooohhhhh, THAT'S what you meant
I believe you enroll in hunting classes (well some sort of hunting education, what do I know).. and when you pass a test you can get your license/permit....SonderKommando wrote:

If you aim like a drunk cat then you prob. can't get it, nor if you have a criminal record of violence..

Can't all bolt-actions be used up to a certain caliber with a normal hunting licence even here in the "restrictive" Europe..

Try one with a barrel length over 4 inches. The 3 and 3.5in 1911s tend to be problematic (and Kimber had a rough period a couple years ago).DBBrinson1 wrote:

had several H&K but sold them ............ I've moved away from extrernal safeties even though I do have 1911s
***edit:
I've got a Kimber Ultra Carry II . F'n pissed. Reliability has rendered it a target pistol. It jams 3 of 50 rounds and has been back to Kimber twice. I'm so let down. That was my Excalibur of handguns.
i suppose that would depend on which country in europe you were trying to get it in

I've been through hunter's ed in Texas, and I have to assume it's similar across the country, but it mostly consists of gun safety training and basic hunting skills such as tracking wounded prey and game identification. There's very little firearms training beyond how to safely handle a gun.FloppY_ wrote:

I am curious, seeing all these Assault Rifles legally owned... Can one purchase and legally own SMGs such as a UMP in most US states?
Because I would love to own one, however I am still glad guns are not legalized here in Europe

lol, assault rifles
an ar-15 is as much an assault rifle as an M1 garand is
i'm not sure which states they are but there are a few that you can get the proper licensing for full autos

Depending on the state, you can buy the civilian carbine version of SMG's. They're not full auto, and the barrel is extended to be a minimum of 14" (possibly 16", I can't really remember the law, but it's one of the two). The gun shop I used to work at sells Vectors and MP-5's, among other things. As long as the barrel requirement is met and there aren't any specific state restrictions on the gun design, they're legal. Now if you're looking for a full-auto SMG, you have to have a class 3 license and go through an unholy amount of background checks along with a waiting period, but you can get them. The license and guns are expensive as hell, and only a few true gun nuts and collectors ever get them.FloppY_ wrote:

I'd call that an assault rifle
I would like to try and fire one of these:
Bet the .45 has some kick to it? :p
(I know, the barrel is far below the 16" mark
