question for you guys: how much does a pistol silencer really silence a gun? (like an hk usp 45 for example)

since they seem to be illegal in california, would it be a felony or against the law if you had someone else from another state buy you one?

and for states that they're legal in, do you need a special permit or anything?

anyone ever used a silenced pistol before?

yes, you have to fill out some federal forms buy a $200 tax stamp along with buying the suppressor or a package of the threaded pistol and suppressor and MAKE SURE THE PAPERWORK STAYS WITH THE SUPPRESSOR

With the Federal forms and $200 tax (money order) you have to include passport photos, finger prints and sign-off from local law enforcement. You can create a trust and register it that way too. With a trust you avoid the photos, finger prints and local law enforcement sign-off. Trusts are the easiest and cheapest way to do it. Once all the stuff is sent in you have to wait for an examiner to approve your request. It can take a few weeks to many months. They will return the form you submitted with the tax stamp attached. You must keep this form, with stamp, with the registered item at all times. Most people make a copy and carry the copy. Examiners are now assigned by state rather than last names so it's not clear yet whether this will increase or decrease approval time.

Getting caught with an unregistered silencer or with a silencer registered to someone else can get you in big trouble.

How well the silencer works depends on: firearm used, silencer used, ammunition used and whether or not the silencer is fired wet (with liquid (water or gel) inside) or dry.

Does yours have the ambi-safety?
Do they make them with a standard manual safety (non-ambi)?

Looks like even with the manual safety they kept the decocker on the rear, which I prefer over the safety lever decockers like the USPs.

It's the P30S with ambi-safety, and yeah, the decocker is the same as the P2000.
