Alright here is the deal, im building a new gaming computer....i have a budget of $1500 MAX. I need everything but a monitor (i think my 32" HDTV will do me for now ;-)...) So let me know....i am leaning towards the Asus SLI mobo, Nvidia GeForce 7900 GT, dual AMD processors, Roxwill 650W power supply, 2GB of Corsair XMS RAM, and the Tusunami Case.....any suggestions? Let me know. Thanks.
"dual AMD processors", you mean a dual core processor (otherwise ur 1.5k would cut it:) )?
You'll hear this a lot in this thread. . go core2 duo .... its the fastest out now.
Also ... -Roxwill +Antec Trio

go crazy. im getting tsunami case too but gay paypal takes forever
If you go with an ASUS motherboard, buy 2 gig o' ram made by Corsair.
sky's the limit with 1500, that will get you far, trust me. i would go with mid range conroe too. and maybe not drop a ton on a vid card yet due to everyone saying dx10 is comin in november? 1500 will get you a sick rig man. don't make your decisions in one day. go to newegg and read reviews. that take a couple days!!!!
Well.. AMD duron 512mb of 133mhz ram, a 6600GT.
Then spend the rest on boooze.

You're so drunk you don't realize your comp is crap.samhornby wrote:

Everything looks good, except I agree with the other guys here - get a mid range Core Duo. 7900 GT: very smart - mid range price, high end performance. 2 GB RAM: thats a minimum. Case is awesome.siciliano732 wrote:

I hate to admit it but Intel FTW at the moment. I'm glad i got an E6600 instead of the 2X 5000+. It overclocks like a beast with hardly any power and heat compromise. Relatively cheap too. And go ATI. soooooo much better unless u get a GX2 but on a 1500 budget thats not advised
what is this core duo you guys are talkin about....is that AMD cuz i really have a bias for AMD
Stop playing BF2 and use those 1500 to get a new life
your a cool kid....shut the fuck up....and get a life....Fabbi_Kanin wrote:

could you guys post some links...im not sure what im lookin for when it comes to the Core Duo 2 stuff
Core 2 Duo is made by Intel, and by the way, I used to be an AMD fanboy too, but I'm hopefully getting a C2D, it's seriously fast compared to all the current AMD stuff...
AMD has been winnind since the Athlon series of CPU's and the P4 has major design flaws. The Core 2 Duo is the first Intel chip beating AMD for a long time. AMD however are coming out with a new chip next year which is said to be able to blow the new Core 2 Duo away. Id suggest wait a bit Vista is on the verge of coming out which will introduce the DX10 GFX card influx. If you upgrade now your computer will get very crappy faster then normal once Vista is out. However if by some chance vista and AMD were both majorly delayed thats a kick ass system.

This is also very true. Its a tough time to buy a comp since major new specs are coming like DX10 and Vista soon. But DX10 games won't be coming for a while, maybe a year or two. So in that vein, its not the end of the world to get a new comp.spray_and_pray wrote:

Wait for PCI-E 2.0 don't invest yet.
Buy burglar tools and steal Chuy's server with the forest of RAM.
You can spend your whole life waiting for the "next big thing".URE_DED wrote:

OP, if you want to buy right now I'd say save about half your $ and build it fast and cheap:
AM2 3800 (they OC like a mad dog and usually OC just as high as all the other amd CPUs)
Get a big HSF so you can OC like mad
2 gig kit ddr2 800 (that's 2 1 gig sticks)
single seagate 7200rpm drive (how big do you need?)
7900gt
I can't tell you what mobo to get since I don't know the new AM2 boards.
That will run BF2 very nice.
Sure the C2D is benching better right now, but once Vista is out I believe the C2D boys will be jumping back on the AMD wagon.
$1500
Case: $80
Nice PSU: $120
Asus P5W DH: $227
ATI x1950xtx L $420
RAM: 2gb @ $120ea = $240
CPU: Conroe E6300 (oc's nice) = $200
HD: 2 x raptor 36gb = $250
basic dvdrw: $50
Similar to my setup. That puts you around $1500-1600.
