How anyone or any entity can decree that a particular country is better than any other is beyond me given the infinite range of tastes and preferences that cover the 6 billion individual human beings on this planet. Take reports like that with a pinch of salt. The Economist fawns over us because Ireland is THE place to make millions these days and everyone has massive amounts of disposable income due to some of the lowest tax rates in Europe. We are also turning over budget surpluses like there's no tomorrow and have the lowest corporate tax rate in Europe. Personally I don't think they factored into their calculations the fact that we get about 3.5 hours of direct sunlight a year.

seems fair enough - nice people mostly, nice atmosphere, good economy, decent scenery, what more could you want?

If I remember this poll correctly the last time I posted about it, this is the result of polling locals in every country about their satisfaction with their own country, not an Economist writer bequeathing his opinion upon us.

I suppose I'm just disgruntled with the weather since I returned from Cuba. I love the old sod really.
