Definitely a 7600 GS, I'm pretty sure they are below $200 now, but if not a 6800GS would also do nicely.

I recommend NOT getting an X1K series cards for AGP, I have an x1600PRO, and it sucks.

Go for an x800++

or an Nvidia 7600GS
Theyre all under 200$ CA

An X800 will hit medium at most, my intel with a PCI-E X800SE is out performed by my laptop with a PCI-E 7600.

I would recomend the 7600GS. It should out perform a X800 in BF2

At what resolution?

I was trying to push out the monitors native resolution of 1024x768 so that may have been why I didn't get high. I belive I ran a variety of low/medium/high and 2x AA.

My laptops 7600 can run all medium high with 4x AA and 1680x1050 as the resolution. Although the rest of my laptop is fairly high end for a 15.4". So you may not be able to achive the settings I have with your dads desktop due to his older processor and slower ram. My laptops processor and ram can actually run circles around my 6 month old FX-53 based desktop.

I had my X800Se in the family's Dell.
