I was in the 1st Cav from Dec '01 until I got out of the Active Army in Mar '06. I was in Baghdad as part of OIF II from Mar '04-'05 at Camp Falcon (South Baghdad). :-)

If our government is trying to protect us, then they can do it legally or they can watch themselves get voted out of power in November..which will happen, otherwise Bush wouldn't be scrambling to get his republican congress to pass his indemnity bill (to pardon him from war crimes trials). If our government is trying to protect us, why haven't our ports been secured and our airport luggage? Why can people illegally cross our borders as easy as they did 6 years ago? Why was money pulled that was designated for protecting national landmarks like those found in NY and CA while states like Indiana and Ohia received extra DHS funding to protect...whatever landmarks are there?
