High settings/Graphics Card

Im building a new PC and i want a decent Graphics Card that will run BF2 on high specs.

So far ive got my mobo, and an AMD X2 Dual Core 4600 CPU. Next is the Ram (Corsair XMS PC6400 DDR2-2GB, and the card).

I just want to know what the cheapest, most reliable card i can get that WILL run BF2 on high. Ive asked a few ppl i know but they just suggest everything and tbh it's the first system ive ever built ( so i haven't got a clue).

Any help is really appreciated.

I ordered the 7600GS recently. I have heard that it will run BF2 on High with good FPS. When it arrives, I will let you know.

This will play BF2 on high with 2X Anti Aliasing EASY (provided you have a good amount of RAM and your computer isn't a total dinosaur).

otherwise if you get a 7900gt you are defenetely on the safe side

Hell yes it is. I game a hell lot, i bought conroe for gaming. From 40fps on p4 to 99fps average on conroe... tell me there is a differnce.

I just read a hell of a lot of reviews for my last upgrade and that's just what most said: anything faster than a P4 3.0Ghz will not bottleneck the graphics card. basically, they said that the difference between a 4200+ and a 5000+ can not be appreciated with todays' graphics. I get over 100fps on SF but that's my graphics, cpu is just fast enough to make sure it doesn't stand in the way.

of course I agree conroe is the ultimate kickass cpu with the smallest E6300 kicking FX-62's ass all over with some OC. that said, go see how many motherboards you can get for conroe, especially if you want to go SLI (Asus for reference?): like 10 for amd, and one for conroe. the time for conroes is coming fast but right now, I dont see you going much faster than my X2 4200+ (no fanboy statement).

Dude, you have to own a conroe to know. After getting a conroe, my 3dmark 06 scores increased from 4000 to 5000...

keep it going, dude, cause Im still not buying it. as I said, conroe kicks my dual core AMD and Im not challenging you on 3dmarkxxx, but 'in game' with basically the same rig? I dont think you see a difference.

So what i gather is that anything form a 7600-7900GT will do me fine for high graphics. Like i said, i have a Socket AM2 Athlon X2 4600 Got to get the RAM which WILL BE Corsair XMS 6400 etc.... Monitor wise ill be getting either the Viewsonic VX922 19" LCD Monitor or the Viewsonic VP920 19" LCD Monitor http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/ … itors.html (18th and 19th down).

Get a 7900GT so it will hold you over until DX10 comes out. If Vista gets delayed anymore you might need to upgrade from your 7600GT if you get that.

Meaning that I'll get my computer, with a 7900GT, and then DX10 will come out and I'll need a new card, just to play a game that requires DX10.

Well too bad, I just won't by any games that require DX10, unless I can just download DX10.

Hes getting a 4600, XMS 6400 memory and wants the cheapest vid card money can buy??

do yourself a favour and get something decent to go with the rest of the kit- anything less than a 7900gt is an insult to the rest of your h/w.

infact if you have 200 quid right now, heres a pukka deal from overclockers GeForce 7900 GTO SILENT 512MB.....scroll down till u see it....its basically a downclocked 7900GTX for GT money...install coolbits and tweak it back to gtx level. With one of them you will run everything on high and as much AA as you can set.

@ ryan_14 No, dx10 will be hardware too, its all change for vista and has had a serious revamp (about time too, dx9 is over 2 years old now). You will still be able to use your old dx9 cards just you wont get all the extra eye candy.
