i have to do 1,500-2,500 word essays for each module on a weekly basis. our extended pieces are called dissertations, not 'papers'.

institutionally-specific terms, i guess. i don't draft any of my university work; i simply don't give it that much effort. why bother when im in the top percentile?

No, Nuk's excerpt is just complete shit from Ivy level paper.
Wait, what?
Most AP lang kids could tell from that sample it's just flowery bullshit. It's not really saying anything at all... As most said, cut it a lot shorter and make a point.

A massless spring is compressed between blocks of mass M and 5M. When the spring is released, the energy is shared between the blocks. What fraction of the energy does the smaller block recieve?

1/6th? Doesn't seem right though.

On 11, the question asks if he's tall or short, and you answered "yes".

Also on 14, "hermanos" refers to both brothers and sisters. Don't know if that changes the answer.

Otherwise the answers make sense. Couldn't tell you if they're right.

Whoops, thanks for pointing out 11.  Should be Alto.  And on 14, yeah I'm just trying to ask how many siblings he has.

But besides those two answers, the grammar is fine?

13.    ¿A dónde nació? – I think "A donde" - but I was always bad at this
14.    ¿Cuántos hermanos tiene? - el unneeded
15.    ¿Es Derrick Rose un muy bueno básquetbol jugador? – eek, this one's just bad. um. Esta un buen jugador de basquetbol sounds a lot better. I dunno if it's es or esta, cant remember atm. Same goes for "all-star". I'm leaning towards esta but cant be sure.

Well  if anyone could help me to solve this engineering problem I would be very grateful (not an engineering student they just threw all env. sci majors an engineering module to confuse us.

"A nuclear powered family car converts fission energy to electricity using a thermo-electric converter whose efficiency is 6%. Estimate how much uranium 235 will be used by its reactor to provide a lifetime range of 200,000 miles

www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioisotope_ … _generator "

No idea where to even start.

How much energy is needed to move the car 200,000 miles is the best place to start. From there, you can find the total amount of fission energy required (assuming the electricity moves the car with 100% efficiency), and then how much U-235 using e=mc2. That makes sense, though I could obviously be missing something.

I'm tired and I may be being a bit dense, but surely this would be influenced by what speed you do the mileage, the weight of your car and other factors?

This is a rough guess:
One U235 atom successfully colliding with one neutron gives away an average energy of 215MeV. This equals to 3.4×10^-11 Joules.
To be on a more comprehensible scale: 1mol U235 atoms(which weighs 235 gramms) (so 6*10^23 atoms) give away 20.4Terajoules(2.04*10^13Joule).
Now you can convert this energy to watt/hp anything else. What we still dont know is how much energy the car needs per mile.
Again this is just a very rough idea, so it obviously can be wrong, it might give you an idea though.
Without being given any specifics, you will have to assume most of the data that is nedded.
Good luck.

Cheers guys, karma for all. Based on the car I used it ended up being the scarily high figure of 25.86Kg of uranium 235.

I don't hugely care if my number was right but it will do. :p

Define area in terms of x and y, differentiate with respect to time, plug in dx/dt and dy/dt (which you have) and solve.

Oh lol, perfect timing on that.

This project helped our group to understand and practice fundamental concepts, theories,
components and methods inside the field of analog electronics. In the metal detector project,
we have learned about the practical uses and implementations of filters, amplifiers, and coils
in analog electronic. The project was especially important for learning and understanding the
PSPICE Simulation models. The whole group is very grateful to Lars and Beduin for their
support and assistance throughout the whole project.

Thank you.

So, I'm supposed to bring in a piece of nonfiction writing that isn't a book, magazine, or newspaper to my intermediate composition class.  I've asked friends what they're bringing in, but they don't know yet.  Does anyone have any ideas as to what my teachers are asking for?
