For those of you who decline to read a run down of the topic:
Iraqi prime minister visited Iran recently in an attempt to basically heal scars from their 1980-88 war, as well as getting economical help from Iran to help get Iraqs oil industry going again. Iraq also is hoping to make some kind of deal about power and water with them also. The article says the 2 leaders are pretty good allies. Iraq has also reached out to Syria for "supplies" says the article. The only thing that came up about the U.S./Iran issue in that article is that the Iranian president mentioned that he "hoped unwanted guests would leave the region" (hinting at the U.S. obviously). They also talked about securing the Iraq/Iran border to keep Al-Qaeda from illegally crossing. Iran denies having any association with Al-Qaeda, or harboring them.
Do you think if Iraq makes good enough buddies with Iran, Syria and other countries in the area, the U.S. may become better allies with them as well?
