im just curious about the people who got the beta...why didnt they wait for the demo instead of speding money and time downloading the beta

I have been a member of fileplanet for a while actually. I got a free game, access to more betas (I'm a beta junkie), and I can download at two gigabytes and hour. It's only five bucks a month. That really isn't much. If five bucks a month is worth bitchin' about, that person should probably find better things to spend their money on rather than video games, internet access, and PCs.

Most guys didn't pay for it, on the thirty-first of August fileplanet handed out 12,000 keys, first come first serve, and I was the 1,337th (no joke) person to get it nine minutes after it was avalible. BF2142beta is the first file I ever got from FP.
I subscribed to fileplanet to get the beta, but I'm gonna keep my subscription going because it's actually quite a good site and I've just downloaded the new Dawn of War beta as well.

Fileplanet offers alot of stuff for their price...alot of betas/demos, and faster downloads on all the stuff you download. I would have considered paying, and getting a nice bf2142 beta bonus, but alas, they gave me beta access for free.

Well fortunately the majority of the gaming community doesn't feel the same. If they did LOTS of mmos would suck more than they do already. haha. As for the good ones well, they would probably suck too. That or take so long to develop that it isn't practical to do in the first place. Because in general, people are idiots with a continous urge to get the latest shit they don't need, knowing that a better, cheaper, improved, updated and working version of the same shit would be available in the future.
Besides, e.g in the drug industry, people usually GET PAID for testing products still in development.

How does this relate to the topic or, any of the responses? Most people play in betas to help make something they like better. Others may do it for experience so they can pursue a real job in the gaming industry. Some just do it for fun. Regardless betas (including 2142) are free. Haha, yea because they are risking their health and, risk suffering unknown side effects. You can't compare testing drugs to testing a video game. Actually there is a shortage of people for human drug testing as of late and, drug companies are trying to propose a bill to allow them to test on prisoners. Actullay I am playing 3 betas right now and also benefiting from somewhat quick dl speeds from Fileplanet. . I played 45 hours of BF2142 so far so yes I got my seven bucks worth....

I didn't pay for the Beta. I paid for the ability to download any game patch, demo, and many other files whenever I want at super fast speeds from fileplanet. This happened to come with a free Beta key and who am I to turn that down. Since then, I've gotten 3 Beta keys.
I love how the people who didn't get the Beta try to make us Betaers feel guilty by asking questions like "why would you pay?".
