I use TikTok a lot more now. There's a lot of videos of graduation drama. Like graduating students acting up on stage, people refusing handshakes, etc.

I have a solution. We cancel all graduation ceremonies. You pick up your diploma during the summer and nobody becomes a social media meme. Maybe we shouldn't even do paper diplomas. High School diplomas aren't worth the paper they are printed on. We shouldn't waste the paper.

i feel like stuffy high school graduations are already more for attending adults than they are for the students. like pirana said, parents feel entitled to this stuff. i support teens' drive to claim the graduation for themselves. american kids, for instance, were brought into the world and forced to weather school shootings, assault, bullshit social drama with psychotic shitstains (with students too, not just teachers), mass disease, ReSoUrCe OfFiCeRs, bathroom passes, and getting up at 5 am to go stand in the freezing fog. let them have this.
