what is my one half-understood idea? i actually have an education on my resume and have published essays that are peer reviewed and evaluated by other third parties, unlike... almost everyone else here. I'd love to know what my 'half understood' state of ignorance consists of, that your eternal wisdom bests.

bearing in mind jay used to post high-school level book reports in d&st and changed his entire political compass several times according to what Amazon bestseller he had just imbibed. the guy is named after a fucking ayn rand character – the most half-baked and idiotic, childish philosophy in the history of western ideas. and coincidentally the philosophy that was very fashionable on college campuses when jay was derping his way through technical college. but sure, of all the people here I espouse the 'half understood single idea'.

Oh. I thought fatherhood would make you pick up a more pragmatic political philosophy. You know a responsible one that provided solutions to social problems. Not one that their supporters admit that "there will never be a libertarian country!"

Solutions to social issues? Like being pro equality? Libertarians are pretty big on gay rights, racial equality and the like, they just don't agree with using the force of the state to achieve their goals. Rather than recognizing gay marriage at the state level they question why marriage requires state licensure in the first place. But what about all the state benefits for married people? Why are married people being given special treatment. Frankly, if you actually understood the philosophy rather than just accepting the snide dismissals of your favorite progressive writers you'd find there's much more to like than detest. But hey, we're almost done here and you can go back to shouting into a vacuum shortly.

Which is the point of the state. Which is why libertarianism isn't a useful governing ideology. It doesn't have practical solutions to anything.

Factory owner poisoning the groundwater? Just move, he has that freedom. Unsafe food getting people sick? The market will fix that after a lot of people get sick because food regulation is wrong. Don't make enough money to survive? Just get a new job. No new jobs? Just move. No where to move too? Too bad. Kids want to go to school? Can't build schools. Taxes are bad. The free market will educate your kids. Can't afford it? Too bad.

You have several thousand more post than men. You have to worry more about your opinions being ignored more than most of the rest of us.

I disagree. People do dumb things, sure, but we get by without having our hand held all day don't we? Don't confuse disagreeing with people with doubting their intelligence. I know my own life and how to deal with my own shit way better than any technocrat ever could. And... I have a vested interest in my own success, whereas they would give zero fucks.

Please stop what, dipshit? Telling people they aren't stupid? That they don't need their "betters" to make their decisions for them? Eat one of your own bullets you tory jackass.

No, dipshit, stop boring and lecturing us with your self-delusion you ignorant entitled hypocrite.

The funny part is your system does depend on people like you being deluded into believing you have liberties and freedoms when you're in a more backward state than some third-world countries which have barely existed for a few decades.

Go read some more Rand now little John Galt.

I don't think you're stupid jay, but I also don't think that people singularly are THAT stupid. But I think when you group them together to make laws - as the government often does - they are. One person does not need their hand held, 10 million people put together do.

So you end up with our current system where politicians write terrible laws like the revenge porn one in Arizona that was overturned yesterday bease it was so broad it would've meant fines for booksellers selling art books with nudes in them. Or prohibition. Or the war on drugs. Or any of the fifty wars we've fought in the past 100 years. Or public housing projects that destroy neighborhoods and concentrate poverty. Or the PATRIOT act.

You don't need to be governed. I'm sure you're doing quite well on your own.
