the only part of that is 100% political is their choice of target to prosecute. the trial itself is 100% judicial and navalny got what he should be getting in accordance with the law. the case is completely solid in that regard.

so, again, the problem is that too many people like navalny are still free. but that is all.

re PDA: no, nothing like that is banned. everybody is welcome to hold hands and snog as much as they want even in public places. parades, rallies and other forms of organized shit are banned, otherwise it's totally okay.
