That article was posted in 2011. Don't they still come close regardless?

They passed this in 2011 after the WBC protested a soldier funeral in McAlestar, OK.   They do still come, but there ability to disrupt and be general asshats to grieving people is nearly nullified.  This was partly passed because the WBC came the closest they have come to being publicly lynched.

As a matter of fact, I live a mile and a half from where the tornado destruction is in Moore and the WBC is here now.  They announced on the local news they were going to "protest" a child's funeral tomorrow.  Out and about town today there were fliers on most of the doors of businesses along the I-240 corridor asking that service be denied to members of the WBC along with the pictures of main WBC people.  Because of this law and the layout of the cemetery the WBC won't be close enough to have any impact on the funeral.

The map is very misleading.  I actually couldn't believe it at first but upon closer inspection and some logical thought..........a population decrease of say 1,000 people in a county of only 40,000 seems drastic and scews the percentages to an extreme.  And you're right, people are migrating towards cities so this population shift seems drastic in states that only one or two major cities versus those with a lot.

Here is a better interactive map for you.  It directly parallels the influx of people versus the rates of unemployment. (Make sure you look at all the tabs on that map, very interesting and more recent than yours.)

As you can see, the Midwest states cities are filling up and unemployment is going down and economies are booming.  In the eastern states populations in cities is increasing along side of unemployment and economies are in decline.

All your map really tells me is that people are moving away from the agricultural industry sector into more modern and urban industrial sectors.
